Summary
Lucy London puts the word genius to shame. Having obtained her PhD in microbiology by the age of 20, she's amassed a wealth of knowledge, but one subject still eludes her - people. The pendulum of passions experienced by those around her confuses and intrigues her, so when she's offered a grant to study emotion as a pathogen, she jumps on the opportunity.
Enter Jensen Walker, Lucy's neighbor and the one person she finds appealing. Jensen's life is the stuff of campus legend: messy, emotional, and complicated. Basically, the perfect starting point for Lucy's study. When her tenaciousness wears him down and he consents to help her, sparks fly. To her surprise, Lucy finds herself battling with her own emotions, as foreign as they are intense. With the clock ticking on her deadline, Lucy must decide what's more important: analyzing her passions...or giving in to them?

Unique Opposites Attract Love Story!
Imperfect Chemistry was a great title for this book! The characters were unique, especially Lucy, she's socially awkward, extremely intelligent, analytical and viewed everything with a clinical eye. When she has to write a thesis that involves a connection to love, she knows she's going need to get a better understanding of these emotions in order to write about them. She convinces her hot neighbor Jensen to help learn more about these emotions and the male/female interrelationships. Listening to Lucy's interaction with the other characters was really funny at times, and the relationship between Lucy and Jenson was well developed and not rushed, which I truly appreciated.
A fun, quirky, captivating listen, with unique H/h characters! I received a copy of this audio in exchange for an honest review.

The perfect kind of love story
I loved this book. The characters were great, the sex tasteful, and just the right amount of humor at the right time. It's clear the author knows a bit about the mind and what makes us click. The story flows well and to my relief, did not have the tiresome cat and mouse chase you find in some romance novels.
Lucy is young, clueless in ways of the heart, and clinical in every way. She's also twenty years old with a PhD. When Lucy gives the wrong advice, well maybe not wrong-at least clinically- but wrong according to human feelings - she is asked to step down from her research in which she's running on a grant, and learn a little about the human heart and relationships.
So of course, the first person Lucy encounters is her handsome next door neighbor - Jensen, a man she and her new best friends think is setting her sights a little high. Determined to win him, Lucy starts with the usual stunts to meet him... borrowing sugar fails, as does inviting him to a party. Fate intervenes, however, and they end up spending a perfectly wonderful weekend together.
My favorite part in the story is the comical interaction between Lucy and her brothers, which reminds me of my siblings and me, and I don't have a least favorite because I liked it all.

I love Lucy and Jensen
I have read the Imperfect Chemistry ebook and was given the opportunity to listen to this audio book from the author but have chosen to review voluntarily.
I loved how the author was able to create such a socially stunted character and bring her into an emotional world filled with love. When I originally read the blurb I wondered how on earth Frame was ever going to make Lucy loveable. I needn't have worried. Lucy is awesome, as is Jensen. I loved that they were neighbours too.
Great book and lovely narration - only slight downer was the 'scottish' accent by one of the characters, but I'm Scottish so I might be being harsh. Great effort with it though!

Interesting story
4,5
An odd intellectual girl.
Learning about romance and dating.
Should be easy huh?
Living all by herself in a university environment at such a young age, wow!
We are introduced to Lucy, struggling with her thesis and almost losing her grant.
just because her thesis requires connections like love, lust, all the emotions around
dating customs and romance.
Something she didn’t experienced yet and thought was a waste of time… uh oh she needs help!
Lucy is so straight forward but socially clueless and awkward.
Without even knowing it between trying, observing, learning to save her grant,
she finds really kind people and makes good friends.
Interesting book with a very original story.
What a fun, light read.
The narrator was boring and a little experience green...

Great Book!
Any additional comments?
This is a great book; this is the first book in the Imperfect series written by Mary Frame and narrated by Rhiannon Angell. The narrator Rhiannon Angell did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end. If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator. Great book
“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”
The main character reminded me of Temperance Brennan from Bones.

An ok love story
Not a typical love story, which makes the story quite original. The writing is good and the idea of the story is very interesting, but I didn't care for the characters. I can roll my eyes over new adult romances where the lovers are virgins, but maybe that's why the main character has a PHD - she didn't do anything else than study, which makes me wonder if she was really human.
The narration was good and pleasant and I could hear Rhiannon Angell really tried to make this book good for the listener. She was good at the different voices. The Scottish accent though.. wasn't really so Scottish, but I get the idea.

Smart, Funny and Romantic New Adult read
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, because it made me smile and LOL and I did not want the book to end.
What did you like best about this story?
The evolution of Lucy as she discovers what it is like to feel...to feel happy, sad, lust, love, jealous, to make friends, to find love.
Have you listened to any of Rhiannon Angell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not but I would again and I truly hope the other 2 books will be made available on Audible and have her as the narrator.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed out loud and found myself smiling thru most of the book. Oh, and the family Thanksgiving was awesome. I also found myself writing a note to the author this morning letting her know how much I enjoyed it. I only do that if a book really impresses and/or moves me.
Any additional comments?
This was a good book. I tend to shy away from new adult because I am in my mid forties and sometimes there is a big generational thing where I am honestly doubting the intelligence of the characters. This book was smartly written and I did not focus on that at all. Although Lucy was very naïve in some ways she was very logical.

What a humorous story!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Heck yeah I would! Rhiannon Angell nailed the tone of the MC Lucy. The story was original and very funny. I was laughing out loud in almost every chapter!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Imperfect Chemistry?
When Lucy goes to her first college party and meets Freya. And also when the power goes out and Lucy spends the night at Jensen's. It was so steamy! I love how Lucy speaks, she was so funny in her obliviousness.
What about Rhiannon Angell’s performance did you like?
Her tone was even and I could easily differentiate between the characters. They all had their own 'voice'.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yeah, but unfortunately I don't have that kind of time.
Any additional comments?
This was a great debut for this author and I can't wait to read/listen to the next one!
