Great listen.
The book is anchored love for the dogs they raise and train. Their methods reflect a compassionate approach to the dog's developmental stage; wisdom compiled through years of research and experience with their German Shepherds; awareness of the dog's canine nature and its behavioral and social implications and respect for life. It's a great listen even if you aren't raising a pup!

Perfect Dog Training.
I was afraid most puppy books would either be aimed at being very strict or being too nice, this book was the perfect mix. These monks out in New York breed and raise German Shepherds but the information is geared toward owners of all dogs.

Self-improvement book.
Years of breeding and training have to lead to the most usable text. It rates as my favorite self-improvement book. Too much to absorb with one listening so it becomes a source for suggestions along the many-years trip with your dog.

Well-adjusted dog.
It's a thoughtfully explained and informative book. It explains so much--a must if you want to bring a dog into your family, especially if you are not an experienced dog owner. It has clear steps to helping the puppy develop into a well-adjusted dog.

Most comprehensive book.
The absolute best, most comprehensive and practical book on puppies and puppy raising. I have had many dogs but learned many new things from this publication. In my opinion, the Monks of New Skeet should be required listening for all dog owners, new and old.

Fantastic, how every dog should be trained
Having been taught to train a dog with a choke lead some years ago I now feel ashamed of what I did to a dog I loved. This book explains how kindness and understanding how a dog thinks is the best way to train your dog and feel good

Enlightening
I picked up many tips for a gentler way to train. Would love to be able to pick the author's brain further--what to do about a large dog who jumps up when your back is turned and how specific breeds might differ as far as needs go.
