Summary

A British Billionaire + a free-spirited American girl + an orphaned baby = a sweet romance with all of the feels.

After losing his brother and sister-in-law, Billionaire Benjamin flies over from England to Los Angeles to pick up the pieces. Including Maggie, his baby niece.

The problem is, Benjamin has no clue what to do with a baby and would much rather bury his head in paperwork than face reality.

Out of nowhere, crystal-loving Krista stumbles into his life and makes an offer he can’t refuse: to be his nanny.

Benjamin makes it perfectly clear the arrangement is temporary: He’s only in Los Angeles to tie up loose ends, then he’s going back to England.

But Krista has other ideas. She makes it her mission to show Benjamin that he can build a life in Los Angeles and honor his brother’s memory.

She just wants to help Benjamin come to terms with his loss and take care of the baby. But then she discovers he has a tragic past and a heart of gold and loses her own heart in the process.

And while he’s drowning in grief, Benjamin realizes Krista might just be the breath of fresh air he was searching for.

This was such a sweet, heartwarming story.

Sweet

I liked Krista and Ben. They are complete opposites but fit well together. Ben took his time figuring things out with acknowledging his feelings for Krista. Baby Maggie brought these two together. Krista was hired as Maggie's nanny and Ben her paternal uncle assumed guardianship when her parents died. This is a sweet and clean contemporary.
Connie Shanahan voiced this book well.

A unique Billionaire Romance

Well Benjamin and Krista are the ultimate odd couple that somehow against all the odds, works. The evolution of their relationship is a very fun ride and the twists and turn of negotiating the loss of immediate family and re-creating your life in the new norm is handled with sensitivity and realism.

Family relationships are complex and often stressful to navigate and yet part of our heartbeat. These realities are portrayed in a quirky yet grounded fashion by Lauren Burton in Book 5 of the Billionaires in the City series while still being approproately fluffy as the genre demands.

I have not read any of the previous books in the collection and it did not prove to be a problem but now I am motivated to get all of them. This was largely due to the superior narration by Connie Shabshab: She portrays perfectlly the flighty and big-hearted Crystal and engages the listener every step of the journey. The listening experience was thus a total pleasure.

good

I think Krista overstepped her boundaries but luckily this US fantasy and she ended up the winner. Ben was overly accommodating to all fortunately for them. I wish he would have gotten something his way instead of all the consessions he made. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.
