Summary

I, Dallas Colter, need a good girl to save my bad reputation.

With too much on my plate, the very last thing on my mind was a relationship—the football draft was looming and dating got in the way. I never understood why my teammates bothered with girlfriends. None of us had the time.

When my sports agent suggested that being seen in public with a respectable girl would be good for my bad reputation, I couldn’t think of a single person to help me out. The only girls I knew weren’t wifey material, and the ones who were? Might catch feelings.

Except Ryann Winters.

Responsible. Sarcastic. Smart. Ryann is perfect but there was one clincher: She was my teammate's ex-girlfriend and I had recently been paid by him to dump her.

Not the best start to a fake relationship….

Loved it

How To Lose At Love is the first book in the Campus Legend series and I loved it. This is a fake relationship/new adult/ college/Sports romance and I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved Dallas and Ryann. Their unusual meet cute led to Ryann's instant dislike for Dallas and I loved seeing how their relationship evolved.

The story gave us awesome secondary characters. This was a light, easy read, that was funny,  swoony, had great banter and intense chemistry. I loved it and would highly recommend it.

The story was narrated by Lee Samuels and Callie Dalton. These two were the perfect choice to voice these characters, and they infused so much heart into their narration. They really brought the story to life, and it was a pleasure listening to them.

Adorable

Sara Ney is a genius at college sports romance. She truly understands the angst of college dating and the unsuredness of young adults still trying to navigate serious relationships. Love grumpy Dallas and snarky Ryan. Truly a match made in football romance.

“The trouble is worth the reward.”

How To Lose At Love was an absolute delight. From the first page, I knew I was going to love the story and characters. Dallas and Ryann were so adorable and a lot of fun.

Ryann was awesome!! She knew her self-worth and had no problems putting Dallas in his place. Her snarkiness had me laughing to myself more than once and I just loved her so much. Dallas was a straight shooter. He said exactly what he meant and had no time for sparing anyone’s feelings. I loved how Ryann softened him and made him start to think before speaking.

The banter between these two was EVERYTHING! It was snarky and so much fun and their chemistry was on fire. I loved how supportive they were of each other and how they actually communicated. It was so refreshing.

The audio of this title had me laughing at loud at Ryann and Dallas. Callie Dalton and Lee Samuels were so much fun as the narrators and infused so much humor, spice, and heart into their performances. I was completely engrossed and I loved listening just as much as I did reading the story.

Full of so much humor, heat and heart, How To Lose At Love is a great start to the Campus Legends series. I love the Colter brothers and I cannot wait to read more. This one is not to be missed!!

Give me all the Colter brothers!

This was a great audiobook. It was a low angst, fun listen.
These Colter brothers are a total hoot. This story focuses on Dallas who lives in a house with his twin brothers. He meets Ryann after a brief dating history with his teammate. And they are not smitten with each other at first. This turns into a fake dating situation. If I had any criticism about the story, it would be that the reason he needs a fake girlfriend seems kind of weak... but it was fine. Loved the chemistry and banter between the two. And Sara just write the best big, gooey jock heroes. The quotes at the beginning of each chapter are so great that they are reason enough to read the book... :)

Can't put my finger on it

I enjoy a good College Sports Romance but this one I am on the fence about. I am not sure if it is the narration or what exactly but I didn't feel like this was the best of the books of Sara Ney's that I have listened too and I almost gave up on it. I don't know which narrator distracted me the most because I also usually really like them as well. Can't put my finger on it.

I loved it!

This was a fun, cute, college, fake relationship, sports romance. I loved the characters and their banter. The pacing of this book was perfect and I loved how their relationship flowed smoothly from strangers to acquaintances to friends to eventual lovers. This was such an addicting read and I couldn’t put it down. The narrators did and amazing job at bringing Dallas and Ryann to life. This is a great start to a new series and I look forward to reading more by Sara Ney.

Iffy on narration

Words cannot describe how much I loved this book! So this one follows Dallas, Duke's brother from The Secret Roommate. I was hoping that the brothers would get their own book because I loved the glimpses we got of them in TSR. This one definitely didn't disappoint.

Dallas is pretty stoic and has moments where he's a little dense so Ryann was the perfect person for him. She called him out on his ridiculous moments and was just as sarcastic and witty as he is. When the two of them finally admitted feelings to each other it was SO sweet.

This book has a very little bit of angst and honestly, it was the only time I didn't care for Ryann. I felt like she should have trusted Dallas over anyone/anything else and at least talked to him. I felt genuinely bad for Dallas, but as with all of Ney's books, we got a nice happy ending.

The narration fell a little flat for me, which is so weird because I LOVE Callie Dalton and I've liked Lee Samuels in the past. Lee narrates very slowly in this book which I think is where most of my issue came from. I never go over 1.1x, but I bumped it up to 1.2x. I do love his voice though so once I sped it up it was okay. Callie Dalton usually has a very dynamic voice, but she sounded very dull and the quality was a little off. That being said, it didn't stop me from listening.

Overall, if you're a fan of Jock Road or How to Date a Douchebag: Failing Hours, you'll definitely love this one!

I loved this a ton!

I liked this book an excessive amount. To the point that I think it might be my new favorite SN book. Gasp!
I loved seeing Duke's brothers, that we met in the Secret Roommate, and Dallas, he is the grumpiest of them all. Dallas is doing a favor for a friend when he breaks up with Ryann for him, but he's actually doing a favor for them both. Not only does he meet this spitfire who doesn't take his crap, but he might have just found someone to help his "image".
Ryann really didn't think her relationship was going places, but being dumped by her boyfriend's friend, well that takes the cake. Dallas is crude and rude and gruff and she might just take him up on the offer to help him out so she can teach him a few things.
They, however, teach one another a few things and when I say the tension in this novel is off the charts, I mean it. A guy who has no time for a girl and a girl who thinks her heart is safe because he's not really her type? Classic "they will fall for one another anyway" trope, and I will let you know, I am here for it. This will absolutely be a book I come back to and read over again. You can bet on it.

College Sports Romance

This was such a good story! College football romance with just the right amount of spicy and drama, and it was a fast-paced, easy read.

Dallas and Ryann don't start out on the best of terms when they first meet. But they quickly start to develop feelings for each other the more they spend time together. Dallas and Ryann are great together! And I really enjoyed the other Colter Brothers in this story.

The narrators were great in this story. And I really loved the humor in this book.

College Sports Romance

This was a cute college sports romance. Dallas and Ryann didn’t start off on great terms. He was a grumpy football player and she was a good girl who wasn’t part of the party scene. They agree to fake date and the banter is so good! I love how Ryann was so independent and didn’t let people knock her down. Also, what Dallas did to get their HEA was so adorable!

This was my first time listening to these narrators. I didn’t really like Ryann’s “voice” but when Callie voiced other women in the story, I didn’t mind it.

Anyway, the other Colter siblings made the story even better and I can’t wait to read their stories!
