Matt Coyne has become a hero for thousands of parents everywhere who are devoted followers of his popular blog, Man vs Baby. This is his book, and it is not your average parenting guide. It's packed with completely impractical advice for the bewildered new mum or dad - stuff you won't find anywhere else: from Profanity Bingo for labour to a categorisation of various nappy disasters. But, more than that, it is the story of how becoming a parent is a kind of beautiful insanity - a thing that changes you.

A good first time dad's guide
- By Anonymous User on 11-05-22
Summary
- The first doctor-written guide to becoming a dad
- Combines the medical knowledge of a health-care professional with real-life experience
- Step-by-step - from conception to caring for your newborn baby
- Honest, humorous and engaging, this book answers the questions you've been too afraid to ask
At this crucial life moment, knowledge is power, but you probably know less than you think: what's a cervix? Can we still have sex? Why's the midwife doing that? How do I make up a bottle, and is that poo normal? Dad's role is more important than you might ever have imagined, so what can you do to help?
"I hope that as a doctor and a new dad, I will go some way towards answering those 'man questions' that never quite make it to the pub, locker room, water cooler or any other locations where men might find themselves having meaningful chats with another guy. Think of this as a man hug in what is a potentially treacherous world of terminology, hormones, social change, sleep deprivation and finally dirty nappies with tiny feet attached." (Oscar Duke)

Thank you doctor!
The book describes different stages of the pregnancy and beyond and the physical processes happening in the body as doctor and dad.
As a doctor author gives load of details and busts myths and as a dad he describes his own often emotional experience
Unlike random bloggers you can trust the real NHS doctor

Excellent
As a first time father to be, I had very little clue as to what to expect. I’ve flicked through my other half’s books and found them either extremely tedious or written from a women’s perspective and difficult to relate to.
This book however is very well written/ narrated, in an informative and relaxed way. It’s a must have for any new dad. It’s made me feel a lot more confident as to whats to come and how to deal with it. I will be buying a hard copy for reference. Thank you.

Bravo. Also relevant for dads outside of the UK!
Read by the author (from a doctor's & father's perspective) ánd his wife (what women want/need), this book offers some great guidelines for fathers-to-be. Some anecdotes only apply to UK healthcare system, but > 95% of information is relevant for dads worldwide. Looking for a high-yield audiobook? This is it.
