Summary
Cormac pushed his feelings down deep and kept walking because it wasn’t true. It was unnatural. She was human. Beneath him. And then he was thinking about her beneath him. Damn.
For over 15 centuries, St. Patrick’s disciples have hunted the faerie kingdoms of Ireland nearly to extinction. Cormac MacConall - a cú sídhe, or “hell hound” from the faerie realm - escaped with his family and found refuge on the north shore of Lake Superior.
But when the enemy tracked them there, killing his parents, the hell hound reclaimed his nature, turning vicious hunter, seeking blood and vengeance.
Enter Meghan Walsh. Beautiful. Sexy. But human. An untouchable. And yet...he can’t help but touch her. She’s small. Naive. And yet formidable. And worst of all: his anamachara. His fated mate.
Could she be the key to what he seeks? Or could she be the enemy’s most lethal weapon yet?

Enjoyed
I really enjoyed the characters, they had such depth and history. Lots of twists and surprises, but a great romance. I think I hopefully spotted a future romance as well! This is a series and I really liked this beginning book. The audiobook had two narrators who did an amazing job making me feel a part of the story. Can't wait for more. I received this audiobook by my request in exchange for an honest review from Audiobook Boom.

Modern Paranormal Romance Steeped in Irish Myth!
This audiobook is very well narrated and the story is very interesting. There are several branches of shee that escaped persecution in Ireland and have moved to parts of the US. Only their sworn enemy, the Black Castle, have followed them. The Black Castle are humans committed to hunting and destroying the shee. Cormac, a hellhound shee, lost members of his family to this war and, in turn, is committed to vengence. In the process he stumbles upon Megan, a human who just happens to be his destined mate. But Megan isn't who she seems and she also may have a link to the Black Castle!
This story is pretty detailed and fast moving. Through out the story there is a sense that something is going to happen at any moment. Just when the audience gets comfortable, the plot twists and thickens. As I understand it, this is book 1 in the series. I am looking forward to experience the rest of the series too!
