Summary

Without mercy, there is no love in this third installment of the Sons of Sinclair historical romance series by award-winning author Heather McCollum.

Gideon Sinclair, the third Sinclair brother, judges everything in stark terms of good and evil. There is nothing in between, and he is efficient at passing judgment without mercy. Now that his clan has conquered the warring MacKays, Gideon starts the process of integrating them into the Sinclair Clan. He will sort the people, punish the bad, and better the lives of the good. Judging is as easy to him as breathing, until he meets Christina MacKay, who steals his breath...along with his Sinclair ring.

A young widow, Christina MacKay has given her life over to helping the orphaned children in the clan. But love won’t put shoes on their cold feet and food in their stomachs. Christina tired years ago of seeing the rich get richer and the poor suffer more and more, so she decided to do something about it. An agile thief of the rich by night, when she is caught, the new conquering chief must decide her fate.

When Gideon realizes that the thief is the same woman who had already captured his attention, he hesitates for the first time in his life. Letting her get away with her deed leads to more trouble when she is accused of stealing from King James and is arrested. Now Gideon must commit his own crime against the Scottish crown if he is to save Christina. But can a man who was raised to honor and uphold justice break the law for the woman who’s stolen his heart?

My new favourite author

Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book, the 3rd in the series about the sons of Sinclair. The narrator captivates you with his deep gruff voice of Gideon and his brothers. He also is able to switch to the other characters effortlessly without you noticing. You really get drawn into the story believing in the characters and holding your breath at critical points in the story. Can’t wait for the 4th book about the remaining brother. If Scottish romance is your genre you won’t be disappointed.

Predictable but still good

Hey, we all have to basically admit we know the general parameters of how these books are going to end, right? Well, I thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless. I’ll be waiting for the book about the forth horseman.

Charming and entertaining

I really enjoyed this book, it made me laugh out loud when Gideon was schooled by all the little children when he was trying so hard to be the Horseman of Justice. The conflicts that were part of the story from the beginning through to the end kept me engaged in the story, and i listened to it twice, just to make sure I didn't miss any of the entertaining moments.

I was never a fan of romance up until a month ago, and the strong women in the Sons of Sinclair Series have captured my imagination. I am truly enjoying as many of Heather McCollum's books as I am able.

Great narration, love this series

I enjoyed the love story as both parties are strong, wise, fair and interesting. justice is mellowed with fairness, not black and white and the adventure to get there intriguing. love this series, hope for another book as one more brother or horseman.

Highland Justice

And the third horseman was Justice who rode on a sleek black warhorse. This is a great story about the third horseman and how love considers how to apply Justice. Another fantastic book by Heather McCollum filled with action, betrayal, love and change! Don't miss any of these wonderful Highland love stories! 😍

Best one in the series so far

Great narration, great story! It was nice that the female lead actually supported and accepted Gideon. She didn't make him change. He changed certain ways of doing things because he wanted to. Not because she made him feel bad and like a terrible man. She accepted him as the Horseman he is. She respected him. It was very refreshing after the last 2 books made the women leads make their Horsemen feel terrible and forced them to change in many ways. The narrator was incredible as always though. I love his voices. Easily my favorite of the series. I hope the next book follows this direction.

Outstanding story & reading!

Loved this story of Cate & her orphans taking in the horseman of Justice, Gideon. Incredible reading by Tim Campbell. Could listen to him for all books. Good jump into Scottish history. Good job!
