Scotland, 1125, the Legend Begins...

For two centuries, Aidan dún Scoti's kinsmen have guarded Scotland's greatest secret, the real Stone of Destiny. Now King David seeks an alliance with the mountain Scot. But only one woman will tempt him--the accursed beauty whose father once betrayed his clan...

Tempted by Revenge

Cursed by Aidan's people for the sins of her father, Lleas MacLaren is the one woman Aidan believes he is immune to... she is also the one woman who may bring the fierce chieftain to his knees.

loved it

Loved every second of it. I couldn't stop listening and when I had to stop I couldn't wait to get back to it.
The narrator was brilliant, I loved his Scottish accent. This was definitely worth a credit. Now on to the next one.

A Lovely Highland Adventure

Lily and Aidan belonged together. I always love the strength and chivalry highlanders possess. It may make the story outcome a little predictable, but what an adventure along the way. And don't forget they are HOT HOT HOT!

A MAGICAL MEDIEVAL HIGHLAND ROMANCE

As your swept back in time to 1125 and deposited in the Scotia King's Chamber where trusted Advisors and Chieftains meet to decide how to stop the rebellious Highland Tribes, curses, witchcraft, the Campbell curse and Lileas, a beautiful but cursed pawn in their dire plans.

Then, as the plot unfolds to the rugged and magical mist filled hills and glens of Northern Scotland where the huge, fierce, handsome Warrior and Chieftain Aidan and his Clan folk live and protect an important secret Stone. That is where Lileas is forced to go, must make her home, be wed and betray everyone..... but things, thankfully, don't go as planned.

This was a well-written, action-packed, fast-paced, entertaining and enjoyable listen as Lileas and Aidan fight against mistrust, curses, family, a mysterious illness and their growing feelings towards each other because both have higher responsibilities - one's a small son and one's a Clan's welfare but both are at stake. There's folk lore, magic and mystique, betrayal, treachery, envy, greed, lust, passion, secrets, faith, sex and, despite everything, love.

Worth a credit? Desire, drama and destiny all beautifully described held me captive and the plot's many twists and turns together with all the interesting and likeable characters, the language, the lifestyle and love makes this, IMHO, a very creditworthy listen.... well all that and it's swoon-worthy painted hero.

Amazing!!

I love Scots and Highland books, and I must say that this book was no different. I enjoyed the way the story flowed, there was not much romance between Aidan and Lleas which suited me just fine. There was so much description to the landscape and the ancient ways that I really enjoyed. I will be reading the rest of this series.

Great Story!

What made the experience of listening to Highland Fire the most enjoyable?

I really loved James Gillies' Scottish brogue. He did a great job with all the characters. I especially liked his reading of the old woman's dialogue, but he also did very well with the children's voices.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Highland Fire?

One of the most memorable moments was at the end of the story, when Aiden battled Lilly's brother-in-law for his mistreatment of Lilly. Very exciting!!

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene, actually, was the birth of Aiden's and Lilly's daughter.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to listen to the book in one sitting, but that wasn't practical. I finished it in about three days.

Any additional comments?

Great story and entertaining performance! I can't wait for the next one in the series!

What a book! What a voice!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I definitely recommend this book! Why? The story is really good and listening to the amazing voice of James Gillies makes it even better. He brings it to life with passion.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Highland Fire?

I think the end is memorable. It is a twist I didn't expect. Loved it.

Which scene was your favorite?

I loved the book as a whole, my favourite is where Lileas and Aidan are in his chamber on their wedding night.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I can say I practically did with one or two breaks, I listened well into the night and next morning on the way to work.

Any additional comments?

I think it was a great choice by the author to have James Gillies tell her story. Wonderful story told by a passionate voice. I am looking forward to listen more.

Boring!!

What could Tanya Anne Crosby have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Added a plot, climax and an exciting ending!!

Any additional comments?

Really no story, no excitement, no twist or turn and struggled to keep my attention.

Too long and repeating

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I guess, even though the story stretches, it's still interesting

Would you recommend Highland Fire to your friends? Why or why not?

, yes, as I said before still interesting story

What about James Gillies’s performance did you like?

Same

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No

Any additional comments?

This is my first book of this author, not bad....
But also not great, though I'm spoiled by Suzan Tisdale, Victoria Roberts, Willa Blair, Amy Amy Jarecki and ladies like this.
The book is a little too stretched and partially repeating, therefor I'll give it three stars.
The storyline is great though.

Stunning story EXCELLENTLY narrated!!

Character development in this Highlander historic romance was fabulous. It’s rare to have the Picts. AND the narration was above and beyond. All the characters’ emotions lit up in the telling. Well written, and very well narrated. Highly recommend.

Great story but......

Any additional comments?

I really loved this story... the narrator was too forceful with his voice. It almost felt like an assault sometimes. I would love to hear this with a different narrator. because I really loved the story.
