Summary

Not much has gone according to plan for mechanic, Pippa Freling, recently. With lots of bridges burned behind her, she decides to stick close to her sister and give Montana a try.

Things are looking up when she joins a local group of animal activists, buys an auto shop for a steal, and even tries her luck with the opposite sex. But it doesn’t take long before her hopeful new future is derailed once again.

This time permanently.

Maintaining tight control is the stronghold in Sully Eckhart’s life. It served him well during his years in special forces and has kept him out of trouble since. But his self-restraint stretches only so far whenever he finds himself faced with the one woman who has the ability to shake his determination. A woman he’s tried to avoid for months—since the first time she shook his resolve—but who now finds herself in the middle of a serial murder case.

However, when she not only ends up a person of interest to the FBI, but firmly in the crosshairs of a killer, he has no other option but to stick close.

And give up all control.

Amazing story

Once again Ms Barker delivers another suspenseful and intriguing story in this new series. Each book is different but the characters are some we’ve already met and new ones. I was hooked from the first page to the last. Wonderful narration too.

Favorite in series

I’ve enjoyed all of the books in this series but I think this is my favorite one. I’ve been in love with gruff Sully for awhile and his book made me smile. Let’s just say he’s going to have his hands full when his little girl becomes a teenager. At least Sloan is giving him some advanced practice. And boy is she a handful.

I will admit I was surprised at who the villain in this story was.

I am a huge fan of Aiden Snow but after this audio Connor Crais is a super close second. He portrayed Sully perfectly and he had that tone that was just sinful. I don’t think I’ve listened to much by Ada Sinclair so she was like a fresh breath for me. She did a great job with Pippa and played well with Connor.

Fantastic! The story, the characters, the whole package!

If hindsight were 20/20, Pippa Freling would never of found herself in the crosshairs of a serial killer! She also would of known to steer clear of High Mountain Tracker Sully Eckhart! Alas, for Pippa, there was no hindsight to be found in Libby Montana! Brilliantly and beautifully written, “High Ground” is Pippa and Sully’s story, and I loved it! Featuring bold, sassy, realistic, fully developed characters, a thrilling, action packed, easy to follow plot, and fantastic narration, this story checked all my boxes! I love these characters. They aren’t perfect. They are imperfectly human and they feel REAL! The lines the speak sound real. The emotions they feel are the emotions I believe I would feel were I placed in circumstances like they find themselves in. The story is plausible. I think that is what makes the listening so easy, so pleasurable. No spoilers! I don’t want to ruin the experience of this fantastic listen for anyone, so I’m not delving into plot details. I can say that I listened to the entire audiobook at 1.0 speed and savored every moment, be it edge of my seat, heart in my throat, romantic tension, or mushy awe, every single moment of this fabulous and beautiful story was savored! Five stars! Stunning and I loved it!

Excellent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

High Ground is Pippa and Sullys story. Pippa has been through her share of danger and  heartbreak. Sully has no place in his life for a permanent relationship, but
he is drawn to Pippa. The author weaves a beautiful tale of suspense and two
people bound by a common interest, finding love and their own HEA. The book can
totally be read as a standalone but I definitely recommend the whole series ❤️

Great Book

Sully got a surprise he least suspected. At forty - four years of age his life is to be forever altered. Pippa caught his interest and a one night stand means he will be a dad. To complicate matters Sully must protect Pippa from the implications of a murder investigation. Narrators Connor Crais and Ada Sinclair bring this book to life.

Jackie & Flynn

Another fantastic book by Freya Barker was in my ears this past weekend. I cannot get enough of her writing. It's smart, romantic, suspenseful and has mature characters, which is a big plus for me! This is the third book in the High Mountain Trackers series and has two people I couldn't wait to get to know better. Pippa and Sully are back! Not together though, their night of passion was hot! Now even though they cannot stop thinking about each other, they are apart. That is until Sully overhears a conversation. Now keeping Pippa safe is his priority, but she tends to be in the wrong place at the wrong time! Will he be able to do it? Fun seeing Sully become the emotional man we knew him to be, enjoy seeing all the trackers, and the banter between Pippa and Nella! I look forward to more of this series! Bring it on Freya!

Ada Sinclair and Connor Crais continue their fabulous narration of this series. These two truly complement each other and bring out each character to their full potential. Sinclair creates the best Pippa! Independent, yet vulnerable, she finds the essence of her. Crais knows how to bring out the alpha male with a teddy bear heart. Sully is all that and more. Wonderful narration, one not to be missed!

A Wonderfully Enthralling Story & Listen🎧

Freya Barker pens another winning novel set in her “High Mountain Trackers” series and I loved everything about it, from her masterful writing style to the amazing characters and storylines she created to the perfectly cast narrators who bring it all to life from the pages to your ears. Each book in this series stands on its own but I highly recommend them all and reading them in order written gives you an advantage of having already read met some characters who reappear in each other’s books. The High Mountain trackers are a specialized team who do search and rescue in the mountain wilderness, when they are not off doing rescues, they are busy running a ranch and tending to their horse and land. The team are all ex-special forces and are great at what they do. This third book is Pippa Freling and Sully Eckhart’s story, the two met in the previous book, “High Stakes” her sister Nella and Fletch Boone’s story. Pippa had been missing, and it was her sister and the High Mountain Trackers who found her, she was in terrible shape at the time but has recovered and is looking place roots in Montana, including opening a business. Sully has avoided Pippa since their one-night stand, when he let down his inhibitions. Except that one-night stand had more consequences than her throwing him out of his comfort zone. Topping that off is she finds herself in a boatload of trouble and the prime suspect in the FBI’s murder case. Adding to the mix is Sully’s niece, who just graduated college and takes it upon herself to play detective and do her own investigation into the murders. I loved the complexity and all the layer to this cleverly plotted story, there is plenty of drama, a touch of angst, action, mystery, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Freya Barker, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Ada Sinclair and Connor Crais continue to do an amazing job of bringing these characters and their story to life and so with a complete understanding of who these characters are and perform their roles with perfection. I love how they take each role and make it their own, sounding believable and just as I picture the characters to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, capture all the character’s emotions and project them into their performance. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Sweetie!

Freya Barker pulled me in with High Ground from the very beginning. I loved how the author brought together minor characters from other books into this one! The storyline flowed and had great tension, chemistry, and steamy time. I loved the cameo appearances of characters from previous books in this book. Each one has been standalone and together were incredible. The narrators both gave outstanding performances and together made magic. Kudos to Connor Crais and Ada Sinclair. I really enjoyed this listen!

Another great listen

I was looking forward to the story for these two. Pippa was injured awhile back and her sister along with high meadow rescue team were able to save her. Pippa is trying to start a new life but it isn't easy as that. She can’t work in the states yet as she is Canadian. Sully has an attraction for Pippa but after one night together he hasn’t pursued anything, which doesn’t put him in a great light with Pippa. These two are both independent people and watching them try and be themselves but also be open for the other was interesting. It made them seem more real. I enjoyed watching them work to make a relationship work for both of them without loosing themselves. Another great read and addition to this series. The narrators did a great job with this story and the characters

Great storyline

I absolutely love how this author works. I don't know how this author gets her stories, but they sound so realistic that you think the author is a fly on the wall taking notes. Just when you think 'WOW, THIS novel is better then the last!' you binge read the next novel and bam, You don't know how, but you read everyone of the novels in order and now craving the next one.
The narrators are also exceptional. Great collaboration and teamwork here, you can tell. Really glad I was told on fb about this series, well worth it.
