About this listen
The New York Times best seller - part of the expanded universe based on the award-winning video game series Halo!
It's 2524. Harvest is a peaceful, prosperous farming colony on the very edge of human-controlled space. But humanity has unknowingly trespassed on holy ground - straying into the path of the aggressive, theocratic empire known as the Covenant. What begins as a chance encounter between an alien privateer and a human freighter soon catapults all of mankind into a struggle for its very existence.
But humanity is also currently locked in a bitter civil war of its own: the Insurrection. With resources strained to the breaking point, the ultimate survival of Harvest’s citizens falls to a squad of battle-weary UNSC Marines and their inexperienced colonial militia trainees. In this unlikely group of heroes, one will stand above the rest - a young Marine staff sergeant named Avery Johnson....

And I thought Scott Brick was good.
This has been one of the most enjoyable Halo entries so far. I thought Scott Brick was the uncontested master of the Halo audiobook library but Holter Graham delivers a great performance, bringing each character to life, I especially liked Byrne's Irish accent.
This along with several other audiobook releases of earlier Halo novels completely passed me by. Even if you have read the novel I would suggest giving this a listen.

Best book in the series
Loved this book. Character development, interesting characters on both sides. Last scene was unnecessary though

Another great book!
First off I'd like to say the backstory of Sgt Johnson was very well written. The training of recruits to the attack of Harvest all felt very emotional, I loved how half of the story followed Dadab (A Deacon - Unggoy) and his relationship with Lighter than Some (Huragok) throughout their journey, just goes to show not all the Covenant were bad, as we know, most were told to join or face the wrath of the Covenant's might.
Great to see Tartarus when he was young, had my Halo 2 gameplay in my head when he appeared.
All in all this was a great book, not as good as Ghosts of Onyx, but a great story. Good see to Jen take the reins, playing the AI...
A must for a Halo fan.
