Summary
Come for an emotional ride in this stand-alone romance by New York Times best-selling author J. Sterling. With Sterling’s laugh-out-loud banter and a trio of brothers you’ll fall for, this realistic story is a must-listen.
I’ve seen Frank Fisher before, but he’s never seen me. He definitely saw me tonight. And I know I wasn’t the only one who felt the world shift the moment our eyes connected from across the bar.
But Frank isn’t like his brothers. He’s quiet, elusive, and keeps to himself. It makes him mysterious, but that’s not why I’m drawn to him. It’s something else. Something I’ve never experienced before, as cliche as that may sound.
I want to be around him. Get to know him better. Explore what’s growing between us, but Frank keeps holding back and I have no idea why. Good thing I’m a persistent woman who doesn’t scare off easily.
Right?
I guess we’ll see.
The Fisher Brothers is a series of stand-alone novels that can be sipped one at a time, or binged in order. Each book is named after one of the drinks at their popular bar!

A decent read
Reads like a relationship how-to manual according to all the BS we know and love in romantic love, plus some actual healthy and sensible advice which was well done. It was hard to tell how old these characters were meant to be— adults with careers and fancy apartments, but at the same time, at times, eye-rollingly immature. Contains all the usual clichés and although the narrators did a good enough job, the steam just felt slightly odd next to the pedestrian nature of the whole story. And the chatty American voices just didn’t ooze any sex appeal. It was telling itself how complicated and angsty it was, when, in fact, the story was so simple I wondered how one could spend 5 hours telling it when it could have been done in 2. Still, I think listening to this in one’s twenties is probably going to give this a higher score. I’m older and so I found it all a bit tedious. I feel bad being so critical. It was a decent read.

Sad and Selfish
A love story centered on an affair and it's justification is awful. This story is rife with selfishness and excuses for not owning actions and behaviours. The author's view on love lacks depth and integrity. This story left my heart hurting and a deep understanding that in a real life context these people would be carrying life long hurt and insecurity from this. I listen to these stories to escape reality and enjoy a good love story. I don't expect all good decisions and emotionally intelligent responses but this was just sad even in it's resolution. I have a pretty decent imagination and even I can't imagine this ever being a great love story.

Boring
Frank is in a long term relationship with Shelby when he meets Claudia and is drawn to her. Much of this book is about how he feels guilty for being attracted to Claudia and for not knowing how to end his relationship with Shelby without hurting her. It’s tedious. The author has written much better books.

True love ❤️
I really enjoyed this book, all three books are great. The Fisher brothers are hot and sexy with panty-dropping smiles. Frank deserves to be happy, no one should stay in a relationship out of obligation. I'm a sucker for a happy ending.

Meh
I find it really hard to enjoy a love story that starts with cheating and betrayal. I felt no romance in this book, just extreme disgust in the lack of backbone in both parties. The main character was cheating from the jump no matter how his monolog twisted things to make him feel better about himself and his actions. He never felt the need to be respectful and to own up to his actions, so Iost all respect for him. As for his female counterpart she was just as bad, not once did her monolog take into consideration the third party or how the actions of Frank could have hurt anyone but herself. She makes a big tado about not respecting cheaters and how the actions of cheaters took her father away but she is quick to jump right back to Frank. She makes the statement that she is too attracted to him, I'm at a loss to know what kind of person has no more will power than that to fall head over heels after a slice of pizza, a few drinks and a kiss on the cheek. It doesn't say much about her character or her self worth that so little was needed to make her change her very opinion on an ideal that supposedly change her entire life. So without respect for even one of the characters in this book it was tremendously hard to listen to them blather on about love and respect when they clearly had no respect for the concept of love and started their relationship by shitting on the very ideal of love and relationships.
As for the narration it was ok.

Omg - awful female narrator
Ugh, slow burn and the female narrator is awful. She’s supposed to have a Colombian accent but she is not. And when she “has an accent, it’s awful, more Irish/Scottish.” Horrible, like rolled my eyes and wanted to FF through female narrator.

the dude is a cheater?!
Im only on chapter 7 but I don't see how anyone can love this story. the guy is a cheater. dating one woman for 10 years and talking to another. it doesn't matter how "bad" his long term relationship is. he made a commitment to her. be honorable and stay faithful or LEAVE before you think about talking to someone else....

Absolutely the WORST ROMANCE NOVEL I’ve Ever Had the Displeasure of Been Inflicted With
I’ve never had a romance novel nauseate me, but this one made my stomach lurch more than once. The ML was the most selfish, spineless, dirtbag that one can imagine, but it’s all OK because he’s bored with the woman who stuck with him through his most difficult time, when his dreams of playing in the Major Leagues were scuttled by a bad arm injury.
The author went on and on about how gorgeous he and his two brothers are, the ML being the eldest, Yes, good looking guys and girls are a staple of this genre, but come on! Way overdone, even extending to how attractive their parents are.
This apparently exonerates him from having a wandering eye and falling in lust with some chica who walks into the three brothers’ jointly owned bar one evening.
The pain the ML inflicts on his long term girlfriend is glossed over as if the anguish he causes her is just unavoidable collateral damage. Since she no longer inspires his loins to quiver uncontrollably, it’s just hunky dory that he starts something with a replacement.
All the lovebirds fawning over each other with the accompanying excitement of the new and the novel didn’t endear either of them to me. Their touchy-feely interactions and longing made my skin crawl when I thought of the devoted girl the ML was cheating on as he left her ignored and lonely at their home.
She’s just summarily abandoned by him.
Long term relationships only work when both parties are invested. This ML certainly dropped the proverbial ball and it crashes onto his original girl’s heart.
I did not root for the new pairing. After their ‘honeymoon phase’ the ML is bound to get bored with Ms. Replacement in due time.
If you’ve ever been cheated on, avoid this book like the plague.
The voicing of the ML’s impression of the girlfriend he’s abandoning is especially grating. Ugh.

I’m too bothered by the cheating
I think the male character is a weak character. I can’t get over it. Listening to him waffling about cheating because he’s too much of a coward is unattractive. This is supposed to be fantasy right? Never have I ever dreamt of a man who lies about being in a relationship. It’s not hot.

Cheaters are ok. Spoilers!
How to not be considered a jerk for cheating on your long time girlfriend:
Step 1: Be hot.
Step 2: Don’t be ugly.
Yep, that’s what this story is all about. The guy is sooooooo hot that it doesn’t matter that he’s cheating on his girlfriend. The main girl has zero self respect and after literally two times hanging out with him is apparently so head over heels for him, that it’s totally ok that he never told her he’s had a girlfriend for 10, yes, TEN years!!! But it’s totally ok, because he hasn’t wanted to be with her for most of those years! So obviously, that’s reason enough to start something new with someone else, before getting your stuff together with the first girl.
Literally, everyone in both of their lives are totally fine with how he’s treating his girlfriend of ten years, because the new girl is hot and so is he!!
Ridiculous. I’ve enjoyed other books by this author, but I can’t even handle the Fisher Brothers series. I made it though the first brother and was super uncomfortable with how it was completely ok to humiliate someone by leaving them at the alter. But again, it’s ok because the guy didn’t want to be with her and he and the other girl are super hot! Tee hee hee.
I don’t even want to know what reprehensible behavior takes place in the third book. I’m tapping out.

Annoying Male Character/“chick” shaming
The male character was extremely unlikable. His whole deal with is long time girlfriend, who he was with only out of gilt and obligation, went in way too long. Even after it almost loses him the woman he loves and he’s begging to let him explain, he STILL hasn’t broken up with her. He finally does but it was too little, to late to make up for his wussy behavior.
Also, he constantly makes sexist comments like, “what are you a chick?” Or to his brother, “I didn’t know I had a sister”. One time would have been funny but the numerous comments just made him sound like a jerk.

Draggy
Female narrator is NOT Columbian nor Hispanic. She confused a Columbian accent with an Irish accent. Story was a bit draggy.
