Story
You might think the problem would be waking up in Vegas, hungover, next to a beautiful woman who’s wearing your boxer briefs, and finding out you married her. But you’d be wrong. I, Nolan Cassidy, international charmer, and maker of mischief have fallen head over heels for Cora Delaney. I want to be married to the lass. So, you might think the problem would be that she wants an annulment. But, again, you’d be wrong. None of that is the problem. I’m a problem. My boxing days may be behind me, but the fight never left me. And nothing is going to stand in my way.

Being a veteran quarterback means I’m a mentally alert, fine-tuned athletic machine who can make split-second decisions. It’s my job to anticipate what’s going to happen next. But I couldn’t have anticipated the death of our beloved team owner, or his estranged daughter, Hannah Strong, inheriting the Boston Tomcats. She’s stubborn, uptight, infuriating, and wrong about absolutely everything. I can’t stop arguing with her. Or thinking about her. And I don’t want to talk about how good she looks in a skirt. Or how good she’d look out of it. Really, I don’t.

Story
When I was a kid, my dad was the gardener for the richest man in town. His daughter, Lily Barnes, told me she could never like a guy like me. Then she kissed me and told me it would never happen again. When it happened again, she told me she could never love me because she was going to leave this place, and I would never leave my dad. We were never quite friends, not exactly enemies, and we could never quite stop secretly kissing each other. She never said goodbye before running off to try to make it as an actress. That was her dream, and I wanted her to chase it.

Everyone on Main Street has been talking about Evan Hunter, the British movie star who’ll be filming on location in our small Pacific Northwest town for a couple of months, and all I have to say about that is: “Who?” When he shows up two weeks early to escape the London paparazzi after breaking up with some starlet, all I want to know is: “So?” When he walks into the gym that I manage for my dad and brothers, to start training for the action scenes in his movie, I’ll admit I do say to myself: “Hmmm...”

My stress level is off the charts. I can’t sleep right on a normal day, and lately my days are filled with the best kind of chaos. My ex-wife and husband number two are filming in Poland for three months, so I’m turning down movie parts to focus on the most important role of my life - impossibly charming and somewhat capable young single dad. Our regular nanny quit. The only person I could trust to hire as a temp nanny is my best friend’s sister. If Mary Poppins and Bill Murray had a baby it would be Willa.

There are bad ideas and there are good bad ideas. My former fiancé banging a nanny - that was a bad idea. A good girl having her first ever one-night stand with the hot former bad boy she just met after being dumped? Bad idea. When I find out that the nanny's ex-boyfriend is looking for revenge, I should run - far away. But I don’t...because rebounding with Vince is the most awesome bad idea ever. Do I want to help him get back at our exes in this way? Oh. Hell. Yes. I want him to get back at my ex hard. With wild abandon. All night long.

Bad luck seems to follow me. Last night, I grabbed a drink at the bar near my new workplace. I met the most sophisticated man when he “stole” my table. We bantered and danced, and I went home with a stranger for the first time in my life. The next morning, I find out my hot one-night stand is my new boss. Gone is the playful, charming man from last night. Luke Maxwell is all business, acting as if our night together never happened. He’s impossible to please, but I’m determined to succeed. This job is my chance to prove myself and put my past—and my ex—behind me.

Dear Mr. Vega: I felt it necessary to follow up on today’s meeting, since we weren’t able to speak candidly in front of your son. I was shocked to discover that you are Ryder’s dad. I think it would be best if we just pretend that we met in person for the first time today. Your son is a very bright (flirtatious and talkative) student and since his education is a top priority for both of us, I hope I can count on you to respectfully refrain from grinning at me, using that sexy tone of voice, and undressing me with your annoyingly beautiful brown eyes....

You know those stories where an adorably misunderstood, clumsy girl needs a fake date to a wedding so she asks her brother’s best friend and they accidentally fall in love? I wish that was the kind of life I lead, but it’s not. I don’t need a date to a wedding. I need a date to a funeral. And I don’t have a brother, or a best friend with a brother available, which means I’m stuck with Tyler Jaeger. Sure, he’s a professional hockey player who also knows advanced calculus, but let’s say we’re not compatible and leave it at that. I should know. I am a matchmaker.

The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview. Well, technically, I’d met him 20 minutes earlier when he’d barged into a fitting room a few doors down from my appointment. I yelled. He yelled. After an argument while standing in my bra, I proceeded to smash the door into the gorgeous jerk, trying to yank it shut. As you might imagine, I was freaked out when I discovered that the rude guy was my potential new boss. Yet he didn’t seem to recognize me. Or so I thought.... Until we wound up bickering again during my interview and he told me to go sniff my armpit.

Summary
A single dad, a model, and a comedian walk into a bar.... They’re all Owen Brodie.
It’s only funny if you aren’t the hilarious struggling comedian who has been hired to be his son’s nanny for the stand-up tour.
Dear Ms. Hogan,
I’m emailing to offer you the job as my son’s nanny because Sam had a temper tantrum when I told him I can’t hire you to come on my stand-up tour with us. “She heckled me at a club a few years ago,” I wanted to say. “She is the sassy little turd who trolls me on Twitter,” I could have told him. “She’s an even bigger pain in the butt when we’re face-to-face,” I thought to myself. What I would never tell him is - things could get complicated. For reasons.
Let me know if you want the job.
With great reluctance,
Owen
#AdorableHowObsessedYouAreWithMe
Dear Mr. Brodie,
Thank you for your email. Please inform Sam that I like him very much and would love to be his nanny and accompany him on your terrible joke of a stand-up tour.
I can assure you - things will not get complicated. For many, many reasons.
Primarily because Owen Brodie isn’t funny, and he can suck it.
Out of financial desperation and a fondness for your son,
Frankie

A Brilliantly Hilarious RomCom! Stellar Narration🎧
This fabulous book is romantic comedy at its best, Kayley Loring nails it with her witty dialogue and a perfect balance of drama, humor and romance. The story is entertaining and wonderfully delightful, it grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire time. I loved the originality of the story, the comedic timing is brilliant as is the buildup of the romance. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they were easy to fall for and care about too. Owen Brodie, a model turned standup comedian and a divorced father of one. He is going on tour but needs a nanny to look after his son when he is on stage. She needed a job and was offered one as a nanny for Sam, Owen Brodie’s son. She is not a fan of Owen and has actually heckled him while he performed in a club years ago, and she may or may not have told him off on social media a few times. He would not remember that or know who she was, right? But Frankie, being Frankie, does not hold back, but since she needs a job and that she and Sam bonded, she takes the job, for Sam’s sake. Wow, this is a brilliantly plotted book and is full of so many laugh out loud moments that it should come with a warning label to eat or drink at your own risk, spontaneous laughter may cause you to spit your food or drink out. In addition to the humor the book contains a whole lot of heart, loved the camaraderie amongst the Brodie family as well, the group text messages were awesome. Kayley Loring, thank you for the laughs and the fabulously entertaining story.
🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing lineup of fabulously talented narrators and voice artists. A better cast could not have been chosen to bring these characters and story to life. Teddy Hamilton and Emma Wilder played the two leads, Brodie and Frankie, with perfection, Sam too, their comedic timing and landing was absolutely brilliant. The rest of the star studded cast played the numerous secondary characters. The entire cast did a stellar job portraying the characters, giving each a voice that fit their character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and real in that role and just as I pictured they would sound. These entertaining storytellers’ performances enhance this already brilliant story to another level.

Not for me
I have heard such good things about Kayley Loring that I was super excited to listen to this book. Add in the premise, and it felt like a guaranteed good read. Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed. The comedy seemed forced and lacking. I’m not a fan of bathroom humour anyway but the odd joke here or there I can handle, this book relied so heavily on it that I just couldn’t enjoy the story. I laugh maybe three times and that was near the end. It just wasn’t funny to me. The characters didn’t come across as very likeable, which also added to the difficulties while listening.
I have been told her other books hit the mark, so I may try again. This one definitely wasn’t a good fit for me.
That being said, the narrators were brilliant. I had issue with one of them and their accent work but that’s a standard issue I have with him. Emma Wilder and Teddy Hamilton were fantastic and the support voice actors enhanced the audio experience.

A not-to-be-missed audiobook
If I could give this book 10 stars I would. I listened to the audiobook and it was astonishingly good. Not only the story- well written, hilarious and just overall fun, the banter itself is something to behold. As a story about 2 stand up comedians who are enemies, the zings between Owen and Frankie made me laugh out loud. The supporting cast also brought the laughs- the parents, the brothers, the best friend, the uncle and of course, Owen's son- they made up an impressive cast of people with an arsenal of one liners guaranteed for either lots of smiles or belly laughs.
That said, I can't say enough about the narration. This is a true cast narration- done duet style. Some of the best narrators in the business are in this book. But Emma Wilder. Oh my goodness, I always loved her. But her singing and her impersonations? She really stole the book and made this book that should not be missed. And then, add in Teddy Hamilton (sigh), Jason Clarke (sigh), Zachary Webber (sigh), Connor Crais (sigh) and Mackenzie Cartwright (eeee!)? Why are you still reading this review? Just go get this audiobook!! You won't be sorry!! ;o)

This book is so funny! For real, hilarious!
You know it’s a good comedy when there are fart, cheese poops, and shart jokes. Only Kayley Loring can bring this kind of humor into a romantic comedy, one that gets awfully naughty, and it’s somehow completely perfectly timed potty humor.
The Brodie Family group text messages are fantastic. I simultaneously want to be a member of the family, and am happy I am not for the embarrassment factor. As the reader, it’s top notch entertainment.
There were so many jokes and comments that were carried off as themes through the book. They were funny the first time, but exponentially grew in their hilarity as the story went on. The best sitcoms do this, and Kayley made this happen to perfection in this story.
When it came to the relationship, I loved that Owen and Frankie weren’t over the top lovey pants, because they wouldn’t be on character that way. They were rude, funny, and hilarious even in their loving moments. It was so great and made them even more believable. This book was so great!
I’m not going to lie, usually I gush about the guy. And I should here, Teddy Hamilton is fantastic. He was the perfect model turned comedian. But, Emma Wilder was perfection. Her timing, her tones, her impressions, this was my favorite narration of hers to date! As a regular audio book listener, many voices are familiar to me. It was extra fun when hearing four of the men in the audio world having text conversations as the Brodie Men. Mackenzie Cartwright, as always on a Kayley work, was so good. Loved this audio!

Best Romcom of the year!!
I am still laughing and I don't even know where to start to review this enemies to lovers book! It's the kind of humor that I love, a story with fantastic characters and their fun journey from annoyance to love. When Owen started his comedy career, he knew it wasn't going to be easy. Hecklers are the worst and this night, the woman was unbearable. A little drunk, and seeing her teenage heart throb on the stage has Frankie letting the comments fly. Now it's several years later, Frankie's aspiring comedy career slowly building, but she needs a paying job. When offered to nanny for said teenage heart throb with Owen while touring, she is hesitant. Their relationship has grown over social media banter, but after meeting his son, she is sold on the idea. And our story begins. Get ready for laugh out loud scenes, cheesy farts, slow burning passion and visits from our good friends from previous stories. Loring is a master at comedy and building a love story that rivals no other. I fell for this couple and you will too!
This ensemble cast is fantastic! I really don't have to say more, but I will. Emma Wilder outdoes herself, with not only the comedic side of this book, but the amazing voices and delivery she gives. Teddy Hamilton brings Owen to the stage with joke delivery like he is on Netflix and turns the tables with burning passion. Add in brother, parents, managers by the talents of Zachary Webber, Jason Clarke, Mackenzie Cartwright and Connor Crais and this duet style narration and I was on cloud 9 as I listened. It's my favorite romcom of the year!

Where to begin with this off the charts funny romance. First, the characters are perfectly thought out and their personalities pull you right in to their story. Second, the supporting characters are an added bonus too. Third, there are fart jokes and lots of cheese and a cute kid, an adorable funny dad, a beyond funny baby sitter/comedian and all the craziness of falling in love. Oh wait there might be a long time crush turned hate turned love situation. There is just so much in this book and it is all so good. I laughed out loud so many times and just fell for Frankie and Owen.
Teddy Hamilton, Emma Wilder, Zachary Webber, Jason Clarke, Mackenzie Cartwright and Connor Crais are the all star cast for this terrifically funny book and they all do a great job. It really brought the characters all to life having so many narrators. Loved listening to them.
Get this book, it is so worth the credit and be somewhere where you can listen in peace without interruptions as you will not want to be bothered while listening. So good.

Sweet, Romantic and Laugh Out Loud Funny
Kayley Loring is such a talented author who is able to find the wonderful balance between pushing the lines of comedy without compromising the heartfelt emotions of 2 people falling in love. When you combine Kayley's fantastic words with a full talented cast, the result is magic.
Teddy Hamilton and Emma Wilder were perfect as Owen Brodie and Frankie Hogan. Their chemistry was outstanding and they brought out an additional depth to these characters with their performance. Emma especially was extraordinary in this role as she met and embraced the various challenges that Kayley threw into Frankie's character and comedy act. I was blown away by her performance.
The secondary characters played by Zachary Webber, Jason Clarke, Mackenzie Cartwright, and Connor Crais was just a cherry on top of this beautiful story. It was so awesome to be able to revisit some beloved characters from the past books and hear them played by their original actors. And then to get to know the Brodie and Hogan families through their family conversations was just pure perfection!
Funny Business is the perfect example of how having such a talented group of performers can take an already amazing story to the next level. I highly recommend this audiobook!!

Owen and Frankie
What a fun and Funny story. It's always a great story when you can laugh out Loud, then get all swoony in the sexy times. The silent Seinfeld between the two, and Emma Wilder was on par, and Zachary Webber is a hoot. The only complaint and I didn't even take a star away is the grand Gesture, Frankie should have made Owen work harder for forgiveness. But still a cute a story

I may be addicted to Kayley Loring's audiobooks!
I do believe that Kayley Loring has a super power--she picks the perfect narrators for her audiobooks. For Funny Business, which is the first audiobook in her new Brodie Brothers series, not only are Teddy Hamilton and Emma Wilder paired as the main narrators, but we've also got Zachary Webber, Jason Clarke, Mackenzie Cartwright, and Connor Crais featured as part of the cast. Now, just one of these narrators would have had me eager to listen, but SIX?! Please and thank you! Add to that a hilarious and endearing romp featuring Owen Brodie, a successful stand-up comedian who also happens to be a single father, and Frankie Morgan, an aspiring stand-up comedienne who had a thing for heckling said successful stand-up. Oh, and did I fail to mention that Frankie was now the nanny to Owen's four-year-old son, Sam? And let's not forget that Owen and Frankie had the hots for each other but definitely cannot cross that line. Maybe. I lost count of how many times I laughed out loud while listening to this. I was wholly entertained by a fantastic story from Loring and the fabulous narration from Hamilton and Wilder and the featured narrators. Five stars!

“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”?
“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”… though, was she?
Funny Business is first installment in The Brody Brothers series. It’s quintessential Kayley - lighthearted, sexy, and LOL funny.
This is the story of Owen Brody, soon to be single dad, former male model who is starting out a career in stand-up. During one of his shows in Tampa, Florida, he is heckled by a woman who is a few sheets to the wind. He finally decides to pull her into the act, but she leaves, giving him the finger.
Fast forward to three years later and Owen is now a more established comic about to go on tour and he needs a nanny to accompany them on tour, as he is taking his kid, Sam, with him. His agent decides to send him his niece, a fledgling comic herself , who has just been fired from her job as a writer in a tv show. Well well well, guess who shows up at Owen’s door for the interview? Frankie, the Tampa heckler. It’s obvious to Owen that he can’t hire HER. But Sam hits it off with Frankie immediately and that has NEVER happened before. He even laughs at HER jokes, which to Owen is a personal offense as all his jokes fall flat with his own kid.
In true Kayley Loring fashion, Frankie gets hired and hilarity ensues. Owen had always been attracted to the heckler lady and Frankie has a secret of her own. Her teenage self had posters of Owen on her walls in the past. She even sent him a Christmas card to his agency then… a card that went unacknowledged to her poor teenager heart dismay.
This is a romantic comedy and we all know that things will work out in the end. But it’s Loring’s genius in creating side characters that makes this book a delight to read. Throughout the book, we follow the group texts of the Brodie family. The brothers don’t spare insults to one another and in more than one occasional we have the “oops, I thought I texted the other group” situation and it’s hilarious. Frankie also has her own text interactions with her best friend Mia and her parents. Her mom is always trying to send her material for her stand-up act, which itself is fodder for her jokes. And with her family being Australian, sometimes things get “lost in translation” from English to English so to speak.
Sam is also a hoot. A very peculiar kid with a propensity to napping and a love for cheeses. Mark my word for it, if you know anyone who is lactose intolerant you will incorporate a new term to your vocabulary: the cheese poops! LOL
If you read her other series, Name in Lights, you will be happy to see a few appearances by Shanicolex and Grammie Todd. We even get a scene where the amazing Lazy Wingmen come to Owen’s aide.
Kayley Loring writes really well. Period. But she writes really really well with narration in mind, so I can’t wait to listen to the audiobook in a few weeks.
Great reading, great fun, don’t miss it!
Narration review: Kayley Loring writes FOR narration. And in this one, with this dream team of narrators, her words just shine. It’s even funnier when you listen to it.

Laugh OUT Loud, Swoony Good Time!!
Funny Business by Kayley Loring was a laugh out loud, swoony, sexy, damn good time! Who knew that fart jokes and cheese poops could be so much fun?! Just saying, Kayley knows how to pull this off in her hilarious and talented writing. This audiobook is performed in duet narration with Teddy Hamilton and Emma Wilder featuring Zachary Webber, Mackenzie Cartwright, Jason Clarke, and Connor Crais! Basically, an EPIC cast.
I love the whole concept of this book about one successful hunky single dad comedian, and an up and coming comedian trying to find her big break. At the beginning of the story Owen and Frankie have this love hate relationship (thanks Twitter) that immediately hooks your interest. However as the story progresses and Owen and Frankie are together more and more thanks to Owen's son Sam, their attraction to each other is simply undeniable.
This audiobook is cast to perfection. Teddy Hamilton and Emma Wilder's performances were super entertaining, and had me completely lost in Owen and Frankie's comedic world. Teddy did a fantastic job portraying Owen's humorous and charismatic personality, and Emma's sarcastic singing was awesome! Also, this supporting cast of characters...gah...I loved! Their quick wit, snarky text exchanges, and variety of accents (Connor's Australian and Jason's Country accent) completely wowed me!
Kayley Loring books always make me laugh, smile and swoon and leaves the biggest grin on my face!

Cute Romcom, Stellar Narration
Well that was really freaking cute <3
Come for the voice actors, stay for the banter.
This book features top tier romance narrators who completely nailed their roles, but Emma Wilder was absolutely spectacular.
