Summary
If you regularly eat when you’re not truly hungry, choose unhealthy comfort foods, or eat beyond fullness, something is out of balance.
When it comes to addiction, abstinence isn’t always the answer, and with food addiction, this is especially true. And yet, for decades nutritional experts have dissected the problem of obesity, and the result has been a series of recommendations about what and how much to eat.
If you’re struggling with obesity or food addiction, you’ve probably been told that you must deprive yourself of certain foods in order to lose weight. You may have also been convinced by the media and by our culture that if you finally become thin, your life will be better, you’ll be happier, and your suffering will come to an end. The problem is it’s not all about the food. It’s about how food is used to self-soothe, to numb ourselves against the pain of living, or to cope with stress and unresolved emotions. Even as your waist whittles away, the problems that caused your food addiction won’t disappear.
For people struggling with food addictions, recognizing their condition - to say nothing of gaining support and advice - remains a frustrating battle.
If despite your best intentions, you find yourself in one or more of the following situations, then this book is for you....
- You've tried diet after diet with no permanent success
- You constantly think about food and/or your weight
- You feel driven to eat when you're not hungry (emotional overeating)
- You sometimes feel you can't stop eating even though you're full
- You sometimes feel guilty or ashamed of what you've eaten
- You behave differently with food in private than you do when you're with other people
- You feel the need to fast and/or severely restrict your food to “make up” for serious bouts of overeating
Again, this book can help you:
- Dramatically improve your ability to stick to ANY healthy food plan so you can achieve your weight loss and/or fitness goals
- Quickly recover from mistakes without self judgement or unnecessary guilt
- Free yourself from the prison of food obsession so you can enjoy a satisfying, delicious, and healthy diet for the rest of your life
This book offers a whole-person approach that blends practical information on managing stress and regulating emotions without relying on food.
If you’re ready to uncover the true cause of your food addiction, you’ll finally be able to embrace a balanced diet and reach the weight that’s right for you.

I didn’t last 60 seconds
I can’t recommend this audio book as I couldn’t go beyond 1 minute of it.
The voice is not at all personable, warm or with character.
Sorry, can’t even say if the content was useful.

Is a part of your life;
You need to buy this book if binging is a part of your life that you would like to get under control. The mind is so powerful and it is so hard to alter or change the way we have been programmed in our life to use food as a source of our daily routine

Needs a different narrator
The content of this book is good, but the narrator’s voice is so difficult to listen to. I find I’m having to really concentrate on what she’s saying because her voice is very monotone that it’s easy to stop listening and just get caught up in your own thoughts. Sorry, really poor choice of narration.

After battling with losing weight for thirty years, I have finally come across a program with the real solution.I knew I had a food addiction but didn't know how to deal with it. I just kept gaining and losing the weight over and over. This book and the author's program is the first REAL solution I've come across. The program and book is SO helpful and I've lost weight with no discomfort. I can't recommend this book enough - it can be life changing

Very Little Actual Content
This book should have only been an hour at the most. There is so much repetition that I kept looking at my Audible app thinking I'd started the previous chapter over. The performance is awful, feels like a friend of the author was chosen rather than a professional narrator. That's fine and I can endure it for four hours if the content was compelling. It wasn't. If there were 10 tips in this meandering mess I sure didn't find them.

Some repetition.
While the advice was good, I felt like she was saying the same things over and over.

Rewire your brain to lose weight and get healthy.
This is not a diet audio book. In fact, Bob Parket does not advocate dieting. He feels that when we allow ourselves to get in touch with and understand the root cause of our emotions we will stop stuffing ourselves to feel better.

Life Changing!
I am so blown away by the depth of applicable information. Not only did I learn some new things but everything I already knew was outlined and put together in a way that was seamless and crystal clear. I am only halfway through the audio book but I have already benefitted from it.
