Summary

Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less is a self-help book by Greg McKeown. The book outlines a minimalist approach to tasks and obligations by focusing on truly important goals and learning to turn down opportunities that do not directly contribute to meeting those goals. The modern fixation on multitasking and having it all has paradoxically resulted in accomplished, motivated people doing many relatively unimportant things poorly while neglecting their true goals because they are afraid of refusing any request....

Please note: These are key takeaways and an analysis of the book, not the original book.

Misleading title

I bought this audio book thinking it is the original book. Title is misleading and don't have enough to content. Dissapointed

Hard to stay focused with the narrator

I really did not like the narrator to this short synopsis of the real essentialism book.
1) I thought I purchased the real essentialism book THIS IS NOT IT
2) the narrators voice is robotic and so hard to stay focused with. I gave up listening to this within the first few chapters. I do not recommend.

Boring and lightweight

Not worth the listen to. I suggest buy the actual book if you are interested and study at a leisurely pace. Even though, I found this book tedious and not very interesting.

Essentialism The Disciplined Pursuit of Less

This sucks! It only gives the over view which takes like 60 seconds but there is shoot to be 33 min of content!!! What a freaking ripoff!!! I am very upset about this. And I am forced to give a Star rating in order to submit my review otherwise it would get ZERO stars!

A total waste of my money and time

I thought this was the actual book. What a waste of my money. 10 mi it’s in I was done. The reader spoke so fast it was essentially meta.

Just Wrong

Firstly, the name of the “overview” should not be allowed to be the actual name of the book. One loses a credit thinking this is the book, when it is instead a very badly performed 30 minute explanation of what “someone” seems important to be known about The Actual Book.
Secondly, the reader is reading his script as though it is a race to the finish line. Seriously?
And last but not least, who wrote this script/overview? I couldn’t even listen anymore passed the first few minutes. As hard as a I tried. This is the worst idea of a summary and it is a shame, since this is one of the best books I have ever ‘read’ / listened to.
I even tried to return it when I found out it was a scam of the actual book I wanted, but I lost the credit for a real book. The person that wrote this and the person that allowed this to even be an option on Audible, both, owe me, and anyone else, that ever “paid” for this “overview”.
I’ll wait….

So Disappointing

such a let down..far to many references toward work, businesses, corporations etc. it needed to be less analytical and more down to earth. ..and the narrator was extremely hard to listen to. I lost focus on him so many times.

Misleading title presentation.

Not sure why this abbreviated version even exists. Purchased on phone after searching title and author. Did not see "Key takeaways. Analysis & review of". Narrator was monotone and difficulty to listen to.

Common sense for dummies

Common sense need not be written in 2 minute chapters. Not what I expected, a let down.
