About this listen

'Packed with passion ... a love story full of charm, music and soul-mates ... a classic E L James combo of the sweet and erotic with the perfect ending for romantics. I think it’s her best by far!' - Milly Johnson, The Sun
___________________
A thrilling romance from E L James, author of the phenomenal #1 bestselling Fifty Shades trilogy

London, 2019. Life has been easy for Maxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he’s never had to work and he’s rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family’s noble title, wealth, and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. It’s a role he’s not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.

But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who’s recently arrived in England, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past. Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she’s an alluring mystery, and Maxim’s longing for her deepens into a passion that he’s never experienced and dares not name. Just who is Alessia Demachi? Can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? And what will she do when she learns that he’s been hiding secrets of his own?

From the heart of London through wild, rural Cornwall to the bleak, forbidding beauty of the Balkans, The Mister is a roller-coaster ride of danger and desire that leaves the reader breathless to the very last page.

It was okay... keep your expectations low.

The book was okay, nothing special in terms of the storyline or characters. The writing style is pretty much the same as the Fifty Shades books, but then, that's the same for the majority of authors in the erotica/romance genre, their style of writing rarely develops or improves, the same can be said for character development.

Predictable in most parts, but the story has been left open for a sequel. If EL James writes a sequel to this book, maybe I'll buy it. Overall, The Mister is a light, average listen/read. Give it a try, but keep your expectations low.

Fifty Shades of Grey revisited

If you’re after an audiobook that’s not too taxing, this is perfect. There’s no doubting who the author is, with its style mirroring the Fifty Shades of Grey series, but I was expecting that and wasn’t disappointed. There’s a fair amount of sex but the prevailing theme is a love story and if you’re a sucker for a fairytale, this works really well.

Trafficking theme

The use of sex trafficking and then the peerage show a marked contrast to life in the UK

So well done, you felt like you were there with them.

No dislikes, its a great book! The female and male voice overs were incredible, accents and all. Made me giggle a bit when the male occasionally did a female voice. But overall a fantastic production of the book. 👌💕

Ouch!!

Okay... so I brought the book to listen to the saucy parts and hoped for a story to fill the gaps. Sadly the buzz of Fifty Shades just wasn’t there anymore... it’s happened, I’ve lost my book mojo! The story was so unrealistic it was bordering silly! It was a mix of Cinderella, Fifty Shades and Taken ( films one and two)!... the performance was good with interchanging narrating... but seriously!! No!!
Like my grandmammy used to say... Keep your expectations low and you won’t be disappointed sweety!
