Summary
NO GOD
NO CREATURE
NO WAR
CAN COME BETWEEN THEM
The epic enemies-to-lovers fantasy novel filled with hope and heartbreak from number one SUNDAY TIMES bestseller Rebecca Ross
Eighteen-year-old Iris dreams that one day her writing will make a difference. A war between gods is raging, and she’s landed a prestigious job at the Oath Gazette.
But at home, she’s barely holding it together. Her brother is missing on the frontline. Her mother is lost in a haze of addiction. And each night Iris pours her heart out in letters to her brother.
Letters that will never be answered. Or so she thinks…
They’ve made their way into the hands of the last person Iris trusts: Roman Kitt. Her cold, unforgiving rival at the paper.
Drawn together by fate and magic, they form an unlikely connection. They say love conquers all… but can it triumph in a war between gods?
Critic reviews
“Rich and romantic – if stories had scent, this one would smell like a mug of black tea, the ink ribbons of a typewriter, and that addictive spice called enemies to lovers." (Shelby Mahurin, New York Times bestselling author of Serpent & Dove)
"A sweeping start to a beautiful and romantic new series. Ross weaves her stories in such a vulnerable and delicate way, truly with a style all her own. I adored this book." (Adalyn Grace, New York Times bestselling author of Belladonna)

Buy the book instead of Audio
Very disappointed in the audio version. No emotion in the characters, no difference to characters voices so it was very difficult to tell who was talking during conversations. The plot was decent enough to finish but I don’t get the love story but it could have been the emotionless audio. Would not recommend even with all the hype

ONE OF MY FAV BOOKS OF THIS YEAR
Pulled EVERY heartstring. Made my heart constantly ache.
I am obsessed. Two rivals at work, competing for the same job...to journal what no one knows of, what is happening at the frontline?
This book made me feel so immersed, fully feeling like WW2. There were hints of fantasy with its godly war elements.
💌: Secrets
💌: Enemies-to-Lovers
💌: MAJOR tension
One falls first. The other falls harder.
The last few chapters were such a rollercoaster of emotions. The ending had me crying.
I want MORE!
WARNING: ends on cliffhanger

Romantic, loved the FMC
Iris was narrated beautifully. Not my usual fare but decided to give it a go. Fantastic. Definitely a fan of this one.

Amazing book!
The writing of this book is mesmerizing! It makes it stand out from the other romantasy books of this time.
It depicts the war time very well and the story is both devastating and hopefull. The characters have so many vibes between them and I love their names as main characters.
It's very interesting that it ends in a cliffhanger and I'll start the next book right away! I'd love to see the role that the Gods will play, as I love the mythology about them.
4,6/5!

Repetitive words
In general I thought the story line was good but didn’t finish the book due to predictable plot. Frustrating repetition of words such as ‘chest’, ‘tome’, ‘bones’ and ‘cups of tea’

Cute but..
not as gripping as I hoped. The story hits a lull at a point (post reveal) where I would expect things to get more exciting . Performances were great though.

It had all the basis for a fantastic story, but I found it predictable and clunky. The narrator wasn’t brilliant, and often I found her not dynamic enough in her tone as she read the story.

Very Young Adult story telling.
Awful story! I do not understand the hype. Very little world building. Simplistic story telling. Narrator did a good job with a bad book.

Good story. Great ending but I felt like it took a while to get there. slow burn.
would have enjoyed more fantasy to be woven into the story and maybe a little more fast paced but it was still really enjoyable to listen to.
