About this listen
A ruthless gang leader. A deadly vendetta. Karen Rose returns with the breakneck follow-up to Monster in the Closet and the sixth book in the heart-pounding Baltimore Series.
Gwyn Weaver is as resilient as anyone could be. Having survived an attempted murder, she has rebuilt her life and reclaimed her dignity and strength. She's always known about her feelings for defence attorney Thomas Thorne, but as her friend and a colleague there could be no chance of anything more...or could there?
Thorne has known violence and pain all his life. He's overcome the hardships that have been thrown at him thanks to his own steel and the love of his loyal friends. Now he's thinking it might finally be time to let his guard down and allow himself to let in the woman he's always admired from afar.
Then Thorne's whole world is torn apart - he is found unconscious in his own bed, the lifeless body of a stranger lying next to him, her blood on his hands. Knowing Thorne could never have committed such a terrible crime, Gwyn and his friends rally round to clear his name. But this is just the beginning - the beginning of a brutal campaign to destroy Thorne and everything he holds dear....

An ensemble piece
This is a long book but every minute of it is filled with twists and turns. The lead characters are engaging. The lead characters from previous novels fill out the background nicely.

Romantic thriller
Good thriller, nice to meet old friends, not sure I believe a man would wait 7 years for the woman of his dreams to recover but maybe I’m just not romantic enough.

Never disappointed by Karen Rose
This book is a little different from her others as you know who the villain is from the beginning. But there are still so many twists and turns you don't see coming. I Loved finally knowing Gwyn and Thornes story.
Now all I have to do is wait impatiently for the next book.

I enjoyed the book but it is not the best.
Karen Rose is definitely a good story teller for people, like me, who enjoy murder and romance mixed. This book centers around a murder committed 20 years ago , a death in prison and a father's need for revenge.
It brings together most of Karen Rose's characters that have been introduced in previous Baltimore bases books.
The main protagonist is Thorne, lawyer and joint owner of a night club. He is found one morning in a compromising position. The dead woman beside him, in his bed, is the sister of someone he had been accused of murdering 20 years previously. All his friends and family are in danger as someone plots to distroy him.
I enjoyed the book but have enjoyed other Karen Rose books more.

Terrible storyteller
Another great story from Karen Rose, but the narrator ruined it for me. Boring voice and often gets the intonation wrong.
I'll be avoiding this narrator in future.

Monotone reader
Story would be so much better if read by someone who is a little more enthusiastic. I love Karen Rose audible, had to force my way through this one though as I had been through all others in Baltimore series. The reader is very monotoned.
If this reader does anymore Karen Rose novels I will read rather than listen to them.
Shame.
