Summary

1812. In Bath and London, Jane Austen's characters are attending balls, and the Bridgerton family are making waves in Regency high society. But these are the grimy streets of Liverpool: a city where the extreme wealth of international commerce meets brothels and brawls, smugglers and secrecy; where both high and low society operate amidst revolutionary rumblings from France and the shadow of the recently abolished slave trade.

When the city’s most powerful shipping dynasty is ripped apart by the sudden death of its patriarch, a fierce battle for power ensues between the remaining members of the Hanley family. Backstabbing, betrayal, long-buried secrets—the Hanleys will use every underhand trick in the book to compete for control of the business and their inheritance. But, as they make and break alliances with each other, the city's wolves are circling. There are plenty of people ready and waiting to seize power, and to enact their vengeance on the family of John Hanley, whose past crimes can't stay hidden for much longer....

Succession meets Downton Abbey by way of Peaky Blinders in this gripping family saga.

Starring: Alex Good, Aston Kelly, Bethany Muir, Cherrelle Skeete, Jack Mcmullen, John Thomson, Katy Cavanagh-Jupe, Oliver Alvin-Wilson, Riona O’Connor, Rosie Day, Sabrina Wu, Shaun Dooley, Stacy Abalogun, Sunetra Sarker, Susan Brown and Syrus Lowe.

Complete and utter rubbish

From start to finish this was a waste of time listening to. I only persevered because I hoped it might improve. Background story idea had good potential but continuity was poor, execution of story inconsistent and unbelievable

PATHETIC AMATEUR FOUL LANGUAGE

This is one of the worst pieces of writing on audible. Pathetic, amateur writing, amateur acting, and no decent writer has to rely on foul language, there is such a things as not showing everything, the best writer leaves it up to the listener. This play is quite painful to listen to and laughable.

Made a change to listen to a play recording rather than one narrator

Disappointed with ending. Although it feels like a second season could be written. Would be fantastic as a tv adaptation. Worth listening to.

Dark Harbour

Dark Harbour is and excellent drama story. I thoroughly enjoy this tale and an surprised it hasn’t already been bought up by the BBC ant produced as a television drama. It’s a perfect script to add to the number of excellent drama stories they’ve produced. I seriously believe this book has great potential. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys a period drama.

Disappointing

Started out good. But I found the storyline weak. it got very 'shouty' and noisy. The character were weak and it didn't really go anywhere. disappointing.

Formulaic rubbish

Had to have gays, had to have a black lover. Like adverts on the tele where there’s a black man, a ginger woman and two kids with Afro’s. Always two kids never three.
I know that it was very common back then for women to have companionship’, because the marrying to advantage but this play is trying to force modern views into a subject that could have been so good.
I usually keep all my books and re-listen but this will be in the bin. This was a freebie, I’d have been annoyed to have paid for this tripe.
