We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

When the end finally occurred, everything about it was cinematic. The dead came back and ate people, civilization collapsed, and no one could do a thing. But Cyrus V. Amidst the chaos, Cyrus sits back and contemplates the gore stained streets and screams of his fellow man with little more emotion than one of the walking corpses. Really enjoyed this book series
I thought this series was really well written, it took on a number of different perspectives and followed a number of groups, which I really liked however after much feedback TW cut down on this which I thought was disappointing, he also re-wrote the first few books following just one group each, these are 'Dead perspectives', 'Dead Vignettes' and 'Dead Geeks' I believe, so if you find lots of groups difficult to keep up with you might prefer these. He decided to keep it to 12 books which is a shame as it felt like there was a lot more these storylines could have given us. TW doesn’t shy away from the horror of what could happen and there is a lot of differences between the groups (which is why I'm unsure what others found so difficult about it, if they were all very similar it would have been confusing and boring but they are very very varied which I loved) but he doesn’t go too far into realms you don’t want to wander into (like the Zombie Fallout series by Tufo). I liked that it followed zombies on occasion too as well as groups of survivors and he wasn't afraid to kill people off when their time was done.
I like the spinoffs too, the 'Dead snapshots' are great, I like the attention to detail (the English one was pretty much on point re: lingo and culture) and I'm enjoying the new Dead series.

Very enjoyable listen
Would you consider the audio edition of DEAD: Revelations to be better than the print version?
Don't know only do audible as i work :)
What other book might you compare DEAD: Revelations to, and why?
Hard to compare as DEAD is much darker than most Zombie books but it is as enjoyable in different ways to Zombie Fallout series
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes as with all DEAD books
Any additional comments?
I would like personally more high points as after all what is the point of survival if the world becomes so dark but at least there is good left in some people. Really great to follow the survival groups and in this book you get to stay with them a bit longer so can be more emotionally joined with them. There is a couple of really dark characters i would be so happy to read of their demise but as you read DEAD the author will be real and will show you the world is not fair. No-one is safe in this brilliantly written world.

mix of good plot line, good character building
I am excited to rejoin Steve and his survivors, the geeks and their rescued girl Heather. I like the vignettes also, a good snap shot into the worse and the best of humanity.
DEAD: Revelations: DEAD, Book 2 begins with Steve and his group leaving the security of serenity base to find they’re lost friends. While it sounds like a typical scenario, the sequence of events up to and after their leaving makes it not only plausible, but like something I would do. I really enjoy the character building T.W. Brown does here, I find myself rooting for the good guys.
They eventually run into a predicament where Steve’s leadership skills are put to the test, not only in the future but also immediately. He allows another group of survivors join up with them even though there is a child that has been bitten. I know what you’re thinking because I was thinking the same thing, that is the first thing you DON’T do in a zombie apocalypse. But think about it, could you pick between a whole group of survivors starving or telling them they would have to finish off the child first? Steve did what I would’ve done and put it off for later, unfortunately his adopted orphan Talia was caught off guard by the infected child.
There are many vignettes throughout, which are basically mini stories inside of the real story. It is just my opinion but these got a little disturbing, even for me. We also get to meet a band of zombie geeks, who have to leave one their one behind because of a bite, more about them in a little bit.
The two groups meet up in the end and we are left dying to know what they will do with this new immunity information. As I listened to this I found myself really wanting the good guys to come out on top. The switching from group to group and vignettes can be a bit confusing, but a mix of good plot line, good character building, and good narration made it well worth rewinding once in a while.
Then there is Kevin and his group of geeks. They manage to rescue a teen super star, her senator mother, and pregnant sister, only to get robbed at gun point by Shaw and his gang. The three of them escape, and rescue another girl from a sick psychopath. One of them gets bit and they put him down, but in the meantime they are waging a war against Shaw trying to re rescue the females. In the middle of all this the guy who got bit is apparently immune and returns.

Favorite zombie series
Where does DEAD: Revelations rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It's one of the best narrated. As for story, it's also one of my favorite series.
Who was your favorite character and why?
There are so many great characters but if I have to pick, I'd say Steve. He's selfless and caring in a world that's not.and though it doesn't always work as planned, he tries to do what's right for those counting on him.
Which scene was your favorite?
There were 2. The geeks reunion with Carey. And the main group's reunion with Ian and Billy. I like happy endings and you don't get many of those in zombie fiction, so you have to enjoy those short moments when they pop up.
Any additional comments?
I read the Kindle version in January 2013 and just finished the audio version. After all this time and all the zombie lit I've read, this remains my favorite zombie series. My rating for this book remains a 5.Mr. Brown writes vivid descriptive scenes with lots of action. But it's the character driven emotional impact that keeps me reading.

Great follow up
This book is a fantastic follow up to the debut novel in the series. The character development is great, the storyline continues at an amazing pace, and even the voice actor settles into characters much better. For these reasons it is probably over all better than the first book.
