About this listen

Does one need four fully-grown foxgloves for decorating a dinner table for six guests? Or is it six foxgloves to kill four fully-grown guests? Sophronia's first year at school has certainly been rousing. First, her finishing school is training her to be a spy. (Won't Mumsy be surprised!) Secondly, she gets mixed up in an intrigue over a stolen device and has a cheese pie thrown at her. Now, as Sophronia sneaks around the dirigible school, eavesdropping on the teachers' quarters and making clandestine climbs to the ship's boiler room, she learns that there may be more to a school trip to London than at first appears....

Vampires, werewolves, and humans are all after the prototype Sophronia recovered in Etiquette & Espionage, which has the potential to alter human and supernatural travel. Sophronia must try to uncover who is behind a dangerous plot to control the prototype...as well as survive the London season with a full dance card.

Great second book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would definitely recommend this book as it is very well written and funny.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Curtsies and Conspiracies?

I can't pick just one. I really enjoyed the whole story.

What about Moira Quirk’s performance did you like?

I love Moira Quirk as a narrator. She has a great voice and really makes the characters and story come to life.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It has moments that just make you laugh. The way Gail Carriger words things is hilarious.

Any additional comments?

I have read and/or listened to the whole series so far and have not been disappointed. Can't wait for the next instalment.

Finishing School book 2

Harry has Stephen Fry, Sophronia has Moira Quirk.
Both narrators amaze me how they can bring so many different characters to life.

Finishing School deserves to be as popular as Harry Potter and I wish it had as many instalments.
It is sad to think that I am now halfway in this series!

A really enjoyable listen and I am looking forward to hearing the next book

Getting better and better

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would. It is just so much fun!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Curtsies and Conspiracies?

I just finished it, so it is all in my memory and hard to pick the favourite moment, although I like the girl's take on "dandy look"

What does Moira Quirk bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

She is excellent reader for the story. Does great voices both female and male and has that energy in her performance which fits the books exactly. After 1st book I could hear her reading it when I got the second. She is that good :-D

Any additional comments?

This is no.2 in series and I can not wait for the third! I allready read it when it came up printed, but would love if the audio version was out on UK audible together with the book. I would still buy the printed version as it is "one of those books" but I have much less time to read and the hill of books is huge on waiting pile. Being able to listen to it makes it 1 or 2 days of great enjoyment straight away.

Excellent fun

Great fun as always, with excellent performance by Moira Quirk. That’s all I want to say, but apparently 15 words are required.

Awesome book, really brought to life by the narrator

Excellent second instalment in this series. Brilliant writing which brings the action and characters to life, and the narrator for the audiobook really does her part to complete that process. Full of action, adventure, tension and laughs. An excellent book, and I can't wait to listen to the next!

Great Followup

Very similar to the previous book in terms of set up and structure. The connection between the characters - good, bad and neutral - is further developed and is possibly my favourite part of these books, all of them are interesting or more than they appear and I'm excited to see what happens to them in later books.

The plot builds on the mysteries of the previous book. It seems as though the author has much bigger plans for certain characters and plots than I expected. I'm intrigued to see where the main story is going.

The reader once again provides great vocal work and brings unique tone to each character.

Excellent

This book is just as good as the first. If you've not read it yet do start with Manners and Mutiny.
