Summary
In equal measure gritty and tender, Coming Home to the Four Streets is the fourth instalment in the Four Streets saga, from Sunday Times best seller Nadine Dorries.
Summer is coming to the four streets - but so is trouble, especially for its redoubtable women, who've struggled through a bitter winter to put food on the table. The Dock Queen Carnival is only weeks away, but there's no money for the usual celebrations. No sign of a tramp ship with illicit cargo to be quietly siphoned off by the dockers.
Peggy Nolan, with seven boys and a husband too lazy to work, has hit rock bottom and is hiding a terrible secret. Little Paddy, her mischievous eldest, is all too often in trouble, but he'd do anything for the mother he loves. How can he save her from selling herself on the streets - or worse?
Maura and Tommy Doherty always looked out for any neighbour in trouble, especially Peggy, but they're far away, running a pub in Ireland and corrupt copper, Frank the Skank, is moving into their old house on the four streets. Can anything bring them home in time?
Critic reviews
“A moving and engaging addition to the family saga and drama of The Four Streets.... Vibrancy and colour warm the pages.” (LoveReading)

The best series I have ever read.
Nadine Dorries has done it again, my favourite series by far, i laughed & I cried. I loved every minute of this book & I'm praying Nadine writes another for the series. I've read all her books & I cannot fault any of them. So beautifully written & uplifting, just fantastic. I cant recommend the 4 streets series enough.

Enjoyable, but not Dorries' best
I'm not really sure how I felt about this book. It seemed oddly discombobulated to me in a way, like the peak came too late and it was all wrapped up just a little too neatly.
I realise Nadine Dorrries likes to introduce new characters with each book of a series, but for me it didn't quite work this time around. Having grown fond of the characters in the first three books, I didn't really care for the new ones that somehow were never mentioned before, and in places it seemed like pure filler and not really helpful to the story.
Emma Gregory's narration was okay, but not great. She seemed to have forgotten the voices she used previously, and there was a bit of a strained quality to her narration at times. She also used a Liverpudlian accent for an Irish character.
Overall I enjoyed the book. I would be happy to read another from the series.

Excellent
I was so pleased to find this as I'd listened to books 1,2 and 3 and thought that was it.
I can't praise these books enough. Nadine Dorries is brilliant. Emma Gregory the best narrator.
Please ladies, book 5 is a must.
The Four Street sagas are the best.

Highly recommend. Need a box of tissues.
Yet again another great ‘Four Street’ saga. This is the first audio book I have listened to from the Four Streets and Emma Gregory, narrator, brought the street characters to life, each character ‘jumps out of the book’. Enjoy 😊

Very enjoyable
Loved it. Emma brings each chatacter to life. Hardship of real lives was so sad but made me realise how true to life the the wickedness of some people prevailed. Recommend a listen to all 4 books.

Absolutely compelling reading.
Having read all the preceding books in the 4 Street series, it was great to meet all the characters again and follow their lives through the next period of their lives. I look forward to meeting them all again soon.

Exceptional!
The Four Streets series is one of my all time favourites. I can listen to it over & over again and enjoy it every single time. The series is not for the faint hearted and deals with some very hard hitting issues but it's definitely worth going through all those emotions with the characters. If you want to read & invest in a good series this is THE one.
