Summary
Coehlo's poignant, deeply spiritual tale of Pilar, an independent and practical yet restless young woman whose life is forever changed by an encounter with a childhood friend who has grown to be a mesmerizing and handsome seminarian.
Together they embark on a journey through the French Pyrenees, where they explore the "[F]eminine face of God" and make the dramatic discovery that love is God.
Critic reviews
"The story springs to life through the expert treatment of Stephanie Zimbalist. The writing itself is compelling, and in the audio format listeners experience the story as if Zimbalist is telling it personally to them. Her accent and spot-on enunciation convey the protagonist's vacillation between skepticism and enthusiasm over the course of this spiritual love story, and flesh out the depths and subtleties of her emotional journey." I’m in tears
I just finished this book and it reminds me of my own life and the shadow and light side of being a human. The story unfolds the process of revealing one’s true self to another and in turn learning to value and truly love yourself unconditionally. Then you can surrender completely to the love of another. Wow, so moved and in tears as I listened to the last sentences of this book. Paulo Coehlo is a word wizard and knows how to hit the hearts of his readers.
