Summary

New York Times best-selling Author Carrie Ann Ryan returns with the next generation of Montgomerys and a second-chance romance bound in memory and heat.

Leif Montgomery fell hard for Brooke Alder in Paris when they were young, and he thought their fling was just an early taste of what life had in store for him.

But life had other plans, and he didn’t find that kind of love—or see Brooke’s face—for years.

Until he visits his cousin’s house and sees who’s moved in next door.

They’ve both changed: She’s a struggling single mom; he’s running from a past he’s trying to hide while opening up a new tattoo shop. Yet the moment he sees her again, he knows she’s the one for him.

And with one look, Brooke knows that she can’t fight the desire that pulled them together before, despite the skeletons in both their closets.

Great way to start off the next generation!

Maxine Mitchell & Joe Arden did an amazing job narrating Laef & Brook. This was an excellent second chance romance. Loved getting to know Laef, Brooke & Luke. Looking forward to more of the next gen of the Montgomerys.

Oh Leif!!!

I am loving the Legacy series. We could see a pick of who the first in line would be and yeah, it was Leif. He sounds so mature now. He and Lake are partners in business, the tattoo business… Then, this beautiful lady comes back to town with her kid. Brooke and Leif go way back and they rekindle their romance. There’s a bit of drama, as it is usual with the Montgomerys nevertheless they get their hea and they are super hot together. No need to say it but I loved it 😍 Superb narration.

Leif has grown up! And what a man he is

Seeing Leif all grown up has rugged at my heart strings, don't worry with who his mom, dad and extensive family are, you know he's a decent person and oh is he. I loved him and his story and Brooke, oh my, so relatable, loved how she was a superb single mom while being an amazing Doctor and teacher and human being.
You all know by now that with Carrie Ann Ryan we never say goodbye to any character, just see you in another's journey, so I am happy to see them in the other cousins stories...oh Carrie Ann Ryan, our babies have gotten to be adults!

So good

I tried to ration this one I did, I hit the pause button and tried to save it but no I couldn’t sleep, the characters kept dancing around my head and I needed to know what was next. So midnight found me painting my living room and listening to this amazing story. The characters were well rounded and didn’t rush things they made sure that this was the best decision for them both before committing. They built each other up and the support of family made this all the better in my opinion.

This was an amazing book with some top notch narration that just seemed perfect for the characters.

Loved Leif and Brooke!

Bittersweet Promises - Montgomery Ink Legacy #1 was a great start to this second-generation series! These books all stand on their own in my opinion and CAR gives readers enough info every time to enjoy the books without feeling like you are missing tons of info. Wonderful writing and storytelling and I'm always ready to dive back into any Montgomery family book.

This was an enjoyable single-parent, second-chance romance listen and one I would definitely recommend. Leif and Brooke had a brief relationship 10 years ago and Brooke moving into the area and bumping into Leif again has them connecting again. They had great chemistry and I loved how they took some time to get to know one another before really jumping into a relationship. They are both facing different situations in life and them learning to ask for help and depending on one another really showed their love. The Montgomery family is huge and awesome and they always show up for those they love. Lief's relationship with his family is fun and held with so much love and respect. With the snippet of what's to come in the next book - I'm ready and looking forward to more Montgomerys!

Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden did a stellar performance as usual. I always enjoy their audiobook narrations.

great story!

Bittersweet Promises is the first book in the next generation series of Montgomery Ink. This book revolves around Leif Montgomery and Brooke Alder. These characters have a history from years ago in Paris, but after a misunderstanding found themselves apart for nine years. During this time Brooke became a single mother (not a secret baby story). Brooke moves back to Colorado to find herself surrounded by Montogomery's. She thought it was a coincidence until she finds out Leif is her neighbor's cousin and best friend. after that no matter where she went, she would bump into him, and he would make it clear that he wanted her.
Brooke is super smart and works as a professor at a university. She has her priorities in order and that's her son. but that does not make everyone she works with happy, especially when they wanted her job. Leif has his past that is coming back to haunt him as well.
I love that this book had little drama and lots of swoon. I also loved that going into this without reading the first-generation books I still was not lost and feel like I didn't lose out by jumping into this series first.
The voice actors for this book did an amazing job bringing these characters to life!

Loved it!

The next generation of Montgomery’s are here and they definitely can stand on their own. Even if you have never read a Montgomery book, you can start here as they all stand alone. Leif met Brooke when they were younger, but unfortunately they were unable to stay together. But fate has given them another chance a possible happy ever after. Leif is such a great character and devoted to getting a second chance with Brooke. Brooke is a great mother and I loved her. I cannot wait for more. The narrators were great with these characters.

The next generation of Montgomery's begins

So another generation of Montgomery's begins. As the first book, it starts with a bang. And Liam is such a sweet man now. When his past comes back to haunt him, will he be able to protect Brooke. And don't forget how the Montgomery's circle the wagons when one is in trouble. Watching Brooke and Liam rekindle their love, as we watch the next generation come into their own, is sweet. It's a second chance that was meant to be.

Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell kill it as usual. I mean, how can you go wrong with that combination?

Bittersweet Promises

This is a sweet story about reconnecting with a lost love. When Brooke moves back to the one place she thinks of as home she never imagined finding Leif there. He is her past and she is looking for a future. The two never thought they would see each other again, especially when they both thought that the other left them. Leif and Brooke’s story will have you hoping and believing in love. As the two work on their own lives, they cannot fight the attraction that sizzles between two of them. It was nice to see Brooke and Leif work through everything. I loved seeing the love that the Montgomery family has for each other and how they embraced Brooke and her son. Narrators Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell do a good job of bringing these characters to life.

Emotional and touching second chance romance!

4.5-stars!

I listened to Bittersweet Promises by Carrie Ann Ryan and loved it! This is the first book in the new Montgomery Ink Legacy series, which is a spin-off series from her various Montgomery Ink books she has written but is a standalone and a great jumping in point. This is a second chance romance, narrated by Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell, between Leif Montgomery and Brooke. They met years ago in Paris and fell hard, but life got in the way. Now they are face-to-face again and the chemistry and connection is still there. She is a determined single mom and he is finding where he belongs. They have both been through so much. Letting someone in is the last thing Brooke wants, but Leif may just be the person to do it.

I absolutely loved Brooke, Leif, and her son Luke. They were amazing characters and I was captivated from start to end. I especially loved how easily Leif took to her son. Bittersweet Promises by Carrie Ann Ryan was a sweet, touching, and delightful listen.

Happy listening!

Love these two

Omg Leif has his story. Montgomery Ink Legacy is off to an amazing start. And could any other duo of narrators do them justice? I think not. I love Maxine and Joe Arden. They breathe life into any character. Honestly was a little weird reading the kids (now adults) stories. We’ve been part of their parents journey and now we are moving into theirs. Bittersweet is correct. Leif was raised by Austin and Sierra; did we expect him to be anything other than perfect? I adored Luke. He was such an amazing little boy. And Brooke!!!! Who doesn’t love a strong female! Throw in a visit to the Montgomery wing of the hospital lol. It’s a Montgomery thing. This story brought tears to my eyes a few times. It was so well written. I am going to love this next generation. Well done Carrie-Ann. Another 5 star read.

Absolutely Perfect

This is Leif’s book and it was perfection! I couldn’t wait for his book to see how things would play out for Austin and Sierra’s son. We meet Brooke a single mom who just moved back to Colorado and when moving into her new house with her little boy Luke, she crosses paths with the last person she ever expected to see Leif.

The narrators were great and the story was so good and couldn’t get enough and can’t wait for the next one by the author.

Quite enjoyed this!!

I quite enjoyed this! I wasn’t completely sure at first who this was about (though I guessed right!), but was ecstatic to find out it was Leif, Austin & Sierra’s son. I loved his story, I loved the OG Montgomery’s being around, and I look forward to what comes next. I very much enjoyed listening to Joe Arden & Maxine Mitchell narrate this, especially during my weekend out of state travels. But I will need a family tree to remember who goes with who for future books, since it’s been so long lol. There’s a whole lotta Montgomery’s out there!
