About this listen

Deadly competition. Deep desert. A dying tyrant.

Finn Harris was declared the Mage Guild's champion.

However, that was only the beginning of the Emir's competition. The next stage will send Finn and his companions deep into the desert north of Lahab in search of a long-lost relic. The magical artifact is said to be held within the Abyss.

Except, this time, he's not just facing novice mages. Everyone in the region seems to be arrayed against him, god and man alike. Racing against the other two champions, swept into the middle of a conflict between the Emir and those he's wronged, and at the mercy of a manipulative fire goddess, Finn must battle his way through the Abyss and claim his prize.

Yet he will not stop, and he cannot afford to fail - not with Rachael's life hanging in the balance.

He will need to embrace his gifts and overcome his past.

Finn will need to become a true prophet of the flame.

I quite liked the slower installment

Yes it isn't as young, hip and fast paced as the other books in this world. On a personal note considering that our main character is an older gentlemen I found this quite befitting. The main story is more young adult.

Now I would like to see the different worlds in this to come together into one cohesive story line.

over all very good but slow in parts

I for some parts very slowly and the foreshadowing was very heavy-handed.

but a nice addition to the main story and I am looking for to seeing, Fin's interplay with the main story

Slower burner but wow what a finish!

This book started off slow but towards the end I was filled with so many emotions, I was satisfied with the ending but it made me hunger for more.

This series is superior to the original awaken online series, the side characters have developed interesting abilites and we (the reader) are finding out more information about the world.

loving this world

when this extra spin off from the awaken online series started i was a little upset, feeling so invested in the other books I lamented having to wait for a continuation of that story arc.

after reading my mind was changed im enjoying this series just as much very well written and narrated i cant wait for the next book and the enevitable clash that is in the brewing as the two arcs converge.

A great addition to the story!

Flame is a great book and follows on from the story of Finn. Many twists and turns in his tale and very much worth the buy!

Boring

I've listened to all the 'previous' Awaken Online and compared to them this one is dull. I had liked the other characters (Jason, Riley and Frank) but I couldn't feel any empathy for whatever the main protagonist is called in this off shoot. I have listened to both Ember and 50% of flame and just given up.

Give this Book a chance!

I think a few of the other reviews are a bit over dramatic, Is the story a little slow in the middle? yes but its still enjoyable. Its a good story with alot of depth, very diffrent from the main series but great non the less. The pacing is different from the first book but there is a good amount of progression and its fun slowly piecing all the parts of the mystery together until the final conclusion. The ending btw was great, definitely excited to see how the aftermath of this book leads to the finial one. I would recommend this book if you enjoyed the first, give it a try at least.

A continuous thrill

This whole series is gripping and I never want it to end. Although I really do want to find out how it ends.

Really? 21+ Hours and You Can't Finish the Story?

The story was okay. The grammar and vocabulary usage was poor. Narrator was appropriate for the character age.

I would have rated this a little higher except for the non-existent ending. Seriously, this book is almost 22 hours. In all that time they should be able to wrap up a story and give us a conclusion to the installment. As it is... the story just stops. Nothing really accomplished in terms of the character's personal goals. Just the end marker moved farther out.
