Summary

An emotional new psychological thriller from the #1 best-selling author of While My Eyes Were Closed.

You have 18 months left to live....

On a wet Monday in January, Jess Mount checks Facebook and discovers her timeline appears to have skipped forward 18 months, to a day when shocked family and friends are posting heartbreaking tributes to her following her death in an accident. Jess is left scared and confused: is she the target of a cruel online prank or is this a terrifying glimpse of her true fate?

Amongst the posts are photos of a gorgeous son she has not yet conceived. But when new posts suggest her death was deliberate, Jess realises that if she changes the future to save her own life, the baby boy she has fallen in love with may never exist.

Torn on this one.

Ok, I am torn about this, as I did listen to the end, I liked it, but also some of the characters actions / choices did get on my nerves.

It is fiction so Authors can write their characters however they choose, and if they all made the right decisions at the right times, the book would end at chapter 3, so there is that.

Anyway, an interesting plot I would say worth a listen and I will read more from the author.

After I'm Gone

Sadly DNF. Premis sounded good. Quite liked Jess but found the whole thing boring and predictable. From early on I found myself wondering why a really down to earth, girl of this world didn't see what was coming even with the twist surrounding the future social media posts....got half way through and gave up.

I really do try and see a book right through to the bitter end but I just couldn't with this one. Buy it and see what you think yourself. The narrators did a good job as far as listened to.

It was ok

I kind of worked out the ending wasn't really a big twist , also the fb messages who or what did that ? Did they continue ? The storyline was good but long drawn out scenes in the middle that didn't really go anywhere to be honest . The ending was short and sweet could have explained more .

Not quite sure what to make of this book

It was gripping at the start - middle was boring - end was lacking answers and conclusion. The books description makes it sound really interesting but .... I dunno .... maybe I just missed something?

Good story but...

Great concept, but finishes very quickly. I'd like to have had a few more chapters to answer the how questions

Different but enjoyable

this is the second book I've listened to by the author. I really enjoyed her last book, while my eyes were closed, and gave it five stars so I was looking forward to this one. I struggled to get into it for a while but when I did I listened avidly. it's a concept that is original and well thought out, though I have to say it wasn't quite as good as her last.
I noticed some reviewers felt that they didn't get answers at the end though personally I did. without spoiling it for others I felt that the answer lay in the end of the letter she reads.
looking forward to more by Linda Green, I love her characters and the way age avoided cliches.

Brilliant!

I really enjoyed this book. It was brilliantly performed, narrated. I couldn't stop listening. I can't tell you what I liked the most because it was overall great. I liked how the diary entries moved back and forth from the future to the present and sometimes in the past. I don't want to spoil anything about the plot, but I can tell you the characters were brought alive. Brilliant. It's definitely worth a listen.

A proper psycological, suspense thriller

...as it should be, without any police investigations.
The central premise of 22 year old Jess Mount reading postings on Facebook from the future which predict her own demise, at first sounds a very doubtful basis for a book. However, since others had rated this book very highly, I went ahead and bought it anyway and I'm very pleased that I did.
As the book gets going, we see that the Facebook predictions actually start to turn out to be correct, we see that Jess is heading towards danger so we're sitting on the edge of our seats wanting to steer her away from the danger.
At the same time, we're swinging back and forth wondering which is the good guy and which is the nutter. Who do we trust? The book has a lot more substance and depth than the main premise.
I love Emmy Rose's Yorkshire accents. Unfortunately she also gave the young Afghanistan refugee lady a similar accent!
Some people commented that the ending didn't provide sufficient explanation. I found it to be a perfectly good ending. I liked the ending very much. I'm not sure what these other people were expecting from the ending.
One of the best books that I have found in some months. I thoroughly recommend.

It was alright

Would you try another book written by Linda Green or narrated by Emmy Rose and Helen Lloyd ?

I'm not sure I would, no.

What could Linda Green have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I think the book needed a stronger ending. I also think the book cover is quite confusing. The story had a good strong start but then I felt it just sort of trundled along, and limped to the end, there were so many opportunities to take this book down twists and turns, I think with a little more TLC it could have been great.

Did Emmy Rose and Helen Lloyd do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

Yes I think they did.

Do you think After I've Gone needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No.
