Summary
As America's first foreign missionary, Adoniram Judson (1788-1850) spent 38 years working in Burma, then one of the most hostile countries on Earth. Judson was ignored, mocked, beaten, and tortured, yet he never lost sight of his goal to translate the Bible into the Burmese language. Today, over 150 years after his death, his translation remains the only translation of the Bible in Burmese.

Pleasant narration.. amazing biography.. such different times.. bringing the gospel to such inhospitable places.. I liked it a little extra because my wife did a mission trip a few years back to Birma.. 200 years later ^_^

Sad
This is not a book for a young Christian it left me pondering was it worth all those deaths and would it have been less selfish for him to have remained single on the other hand all his wives fulfilled a purpose even though he lead each one to suffering and death, but the children that survived lived useful lives. To answer my own questions I googled Christianity in Burma and is the second largest religion in that country. So without a doubt a Hero, but not an enjoyable book

Very inspiring
Reading Adoniram Judson's biography definitely caused a perspective shift in my life. It's hard to imagine the suffering and loss this missionary endured and persevered through to complete his vision for the Burmese people. His translation of the Bible to this people group is still influential in translation ministry today. He accepted the call and sacrificed himself to fulfill it.

Simple and interesting
The book is a great biography for anyone who would like to know more about Judson. I encourage any pastor to give this simple little book a listen. It’s very simply written and easy to follow. The narrator does a great job.

From a Deist to a Christian Missionary!!
What a fantastic story this is about how a Deist became America's first foreign missionary in the early 1800s!!What persistence God's grace gave him to persevere through all kinds of difficulties in becoming the first Christian missionary to Burma and who translated the Bible into Burmese.

A hero worth remembering
This was a very gripping and well-written biography. Adoniram Judson may not have done everything right, but nevertheless God used in the tremendous way! He is a real and relatable hero of the faith. His example and testimony in many ways teach far more about living the Christian life than any textbook ever could.
