Summary

Sophia is destined to be the savior of an ancient tribe, but controlling her Fire magic at a school where dragons fly and mystery is around every corner is more complicated than she thought.

At Orenda Academy, power is absolute, and students are thrown into a dangerous competition to survive. The Elders who run the tribe are ruthless, and they see Sophia as the ultimate threat. Liam is the outcast son of a Water chief who's lost everything. He's been given a chance to restore his honor...if he helps the Elders take Sophia down. Unfortunately, she's the one person he's chosen to protect. Fire and Water aren't allowed to be together, and if anyone discovers Liam's love for Sophia, death will be imminent for them both.

To fight back against the Elders, their forbidden romance must come into the light...and ignite a rebellion within the tribe.

ANNOYED BUT STILL INTERESTED

***SOME SPOILERS-JUST ONE PLOT POINT***
I am towards the end of the first book Fire Prophecy and I am really enjoying the storyline BUT the heroin, Sofia is really annoying me. She's supposed to be able to trust her friends EXPECIALLY her love interest, Liam, but she won't tell them something so important that could help Liam!! I mean he is STRUGGLING, it would also help him save face in front of EVERYONE watching but she's keeping this major major secret. And she is bringing everyone else in on lying by omission. SO EVERYONE is assisting in lying to Liam. It's making me want to stop reading but I'm invested and interested in the storyline so far and I see that they do get through it but I'm just ANNOYED! OMFGOSH!!! One last thing... WHY OH WHY do authors have to make characters do stupid things to make a book?!? ANNOYED!

UPDATE: I can't... I just can't! I have to stop reading... I am STILL towards the end and she HAS the opportunity to tell him and she STILL doesn't! And it was the most PERFECT opportunity and she still let's the opportunity pass her by!!! 😡😡😡

AND YET ANOTHER UPDATE:

I am truly sorry... if I had none I would keep adding I would have just taken notes... but I am in it... so oh well 🤷

AGAIN... why do authors have to make miscommunication a plot point?!? The story could have went waaaaaay more smoothly if they were just open and honest with each other! They could have been working together like a secret operative team...

Awful beginning but got better

I started this series and almost stopped with the first chapter as it was so depressing and I don’t listen to audible books to be depressed. Though one of the main charterers remains predominantly depressed he at least grows into a functioning human being. I could have done without the gratuitous sex scenes as they really didn’t add anything to the storyline. And no I am not a prude and enjoy a good sex scene but these would have been better if they didn’t feel boring. Overall, I enjoyed them and am going to start the next set of three as I hate not having story closure.

Almost perfect

love the authenticity of native culture used in this series and love this whole universe. My only complaint is the misogynistic massive over tone of "purity" and fetishizing "virgins" its 2022, thats gross. plus these are young adults in college the amount of emphases on loosing your "different firsts" is high school bs.

lasty invalidating women and women relationships, when you find out the main character is bi sexual she is clearly described sleeping with a woman. But when she goes back to her boyfriend she is suddenly a virgin? NO, thats not how it works, a penis is not the only thing capable of "taking your Virginity" sleeping with a women/oral sex IS SEX. Pretending she is still a virgin invalidates W/W relationships and again is completely misogynistic.

Great story and engaging

I did not care for Liam's voice narrator but enjoyed Sofia's voice narrator. the second set of books narrators are much worse.
