Summary
Not All Injuries Heal True

Good as always
Great book to read a bit slower till the action but it gets there. the book as always is well written and and the change of pace from the others in the series is refreshing and can’t wait for book 6 being released soon. Tao wong very quickly went from someone I never heard of to one of my fav authors thank you for your great books they help me to destress after my usual stressful day and always take me away to the world you have created again thank you

Love this series but this feels like half a book
Love the author, and this series, but the first 20 something chapters was a grind to get through, all setup and very little story. It was stuck in the weeds and made the whole book endup feeling rushed towards the end, like it was only really getting started in the last few chapters.
It's a shame because if the first 20 chapters had been edited down to 5-10, and left more room for story after the tower scene, it would have been a really great book

Pretty disappointed
You could honestly listen to the first thirty minutes and the last hour and a half and get the same story.
He spends the entire book not progressing at all due to medical issues. In the epilogue he receives the solution to the issue and hasn’t implemented it as of the book end though he has begun.
Again, there is no progression in this book. If you like cultivation and characters getting stronger - skip.

not your average cultivation novel
I love these books, because they have more depth than your average cultivation light novel. I enjoy the rich descriptions of how cultivation works, and various obstacles on the path of cultivation. The cultivation system is a whole lot more thought out, with a lot of interesting detail. In cultivation light novels, it's really just a power fantasy. I read or listen to these books, because I get bored of those simplicity in those cultivation light novels. These books have more empathy and humanity in them, than cultivation light novels. That’s what makes these books unique and enjoyable.

Filler
If you listen only to the last 3hrs you wouldn’t have missed anything.....hopefully the next book in the series will be better. It goes without saying Travis did an excellent job as usual.

Struggle
This words describes the entire book. I love this series, but this book almost broke me. 6+ hours of struggling to finally get some relief in the last 30min. I really hope the next book is better. The narrator was amazing as always.

One Star And Return
This book is maybe an hour of content in total stretched out to make the most boring filler book. The main character's personality has regressed. The enemies are all blatant and poorly written. This might honestly be the worst book tao wong has written.

pretty much skippable
this is not a bad book exactly, but it's certainly not a good one either, it's kinda boring because almost nothing happens, nothing important at least. You could listen to the first 1-2 hours to understand the gist of things and the last 2-3 hours for the conclusion and skip everything in between and miss nothing important, the rest of the book is esentially a side quest with no stakes or progression and this is already a very slow moving progression series as is.

Good not great
This felt like 11 hours of filler and really prolonged the whole struggle which did nothing to advance the story from the previous book. Travis Baldree did great as usual. Overall it was bit of a letdown in what’s been an entertaining series.

Repetitive and dry
So the good. Travis Baldree's narration was excellent, as usual. I've really enjoyed this series so far and was looking forward to the next part of the adventure. Buuuut this one was rather a letdown and here are my main issues with the book.
First, almost nothing actually happens. I'm all about world building and explaining how things work, but there were massive sections where all we got were dry and technical details of cultivation and the like. It felt more like a textbook or study than a story.
I think the thing that bugged me most was the ridiculously repetitive word choice. I can't even begin to count the number of times "body" was used in distracting frequency. I get you need to use it when discussing body cultivation, but there were so many times another word or phrasing could have been substituted when discussing a person's anatomy. Then there are times where the author repeats whole phrases within a minute of each other. It became jarring listening to the story due to the extreme repetition of words and phrases directly on the heels of its previous usage.
Now, all that said, I'm still going to check out the next book. It's nicely set up for some good character development so I'm hopeful for a better book next time.

Slower than the first 4 but is a good transition
A Thousand Li is one of the 3 series I pre-order and get when they come out and Tao Wong's writing keeps getting better each novel. It makes you feel attached to the main character but no matter how much I feel like I want to be attached to the primary secondary characters I find myself not. Add in to this story to me being a transition book in the story, while it was a great book it would not be one of my top 3 favorite in the series.
