A different take on Saul David and Absolum. A great lesson on true humility and trust in God.

A great way to see the scriptures.

I will be taking my elders and church staff through this book. it is very convicting and forces you to consider you own heart in the way you lead. I will continue to read this book year after year.

Beauty of Ashes

For many years I have wondered if my heart was cursed or designed to carry...I now understand my David's heart and the purpose behind the gift of its design. What I once thought was a burden workout cause, I now understand to be the process of unveiling God's diamond in the rough-the diamond of submitting through faith & trust in response, thought, and choice.

Still worthwhile 3+ decades later.

This book is several decades old but it addresses a topic that will be current until Jesus returns.
"Why do I do the things I do and who do I do them for?"
It was written at a time when the visible Protestant Church model was fundamentally as it is now: a hierarchical structure with a senior leader who through one governmental form or another has the final say or at least the most substantial amount of influence and so Gene Edward's book is written with that as the backdrop, informing the entire work.
It may seem ethereal or idealistic, but the reality is, Jesus promised to build his church and he still is.
He will have a Bride and he will have his way.

The question for us individually is how do we partner with him in that work? How do we resist control which is fundamentally Satan's form of government and instead, walk in that place of trust in, and obedience to, the one true King?

This is a short read and very very worthwhile in my opinion. I appreciated it more this time than I did 30 years ago.

Very heartfelt and timely message

This book is short but powerful. It addresses a much needed subject and human attitude flaw we all have: selfishness. If you are hurting in ministry I highly recommend this book. It will help you turn your attention and faith back to God where it belongs.

Well worth it and still applicable

This book is a timeless masterpiece. Certainly things that should be pondered. Although this shouldn’t be viewed as theologically accurate, the truths presented that reflect our heart is what I believe the author intends to communicate.
