But after he saves Emma from a life of indentured servitude and shame, Emma decides that it is her personal duty to save him from his wicked ways. Story
When Elizabeth Middleton leaves England to join her father at the edge of the New York wilderness, she does so with a strong will and an unwavering purpose: to teach school to children of all races - black, white, and Native American. It is December of 1792 when she arrives in a cold climate unlike any she has ever experienced. And she meets a man different from any she has ever encountered - a white man dressed like a native. His name is Nathaniel Bonner, also known to the Mohawk people as Between-Two-Lives. Elizabeth defies her father and shatters convention, but her ultimate destiny, here in the heart of the wilderness, lies in the odyssey to come: trials of faith and flesh, and passion born amid Nathaniel's own secrets and divided soul.

Summary
The Civil War left its mark on Dr. John Turner. He turns his back on medicine and sees his unexpected inheritance in England as an opportunity to start over. But he never imagines how God intends to use his new role as lord of Ashford Hall or the beautiful woman he finds there to ease his troubled soul.
A tragic loss led Penelope Howard to bury her heart and dreams in her work for the Hall and the village of Woodley. But the arrival of the new heir stirs not only her discarded longings but her compassion as well. What burden does he carry that he can't accept that grace covers the darkest of sins?
A deadly epidemic sweeps through Woodley revealing secrets which threaten everything. The doctor faces a choice: leave or dare to believe what the Lord whispers through the woman John has come to love.
No one is beyond redemption.

Historical Christian romance
A story about accepting God’s forgiveness, redemption and grace for hurting souls. The details of how the hero and heroine navigate the intersection of not measuring up to societal expectations, social status, and medical practice in a rural setting are charmingly rendered. Awesome story
I got this one in audio since I've never read anything by this author or heard an audio book by Gwyneth Olson before. Both the author and narrator did an incredible job on this collaboration! It book has well developed characters, human... but flawed. The amount of research and thought put into this book shows in the considerable number of wonderful details, while the narrator exhibits the amazing talent of being able to grab you and pull you into the story! I highly recommend this audio book. There are no sex scenes to limit it to an older audience. It gives young women a look into how their decisions can possibly affect their futures. Sometimes the "Now" decisions are the only concern, with no thought given to how a specific decision can affect so many later in life. 😍

Slow
Narration was bad I could've overlooked it but the story. ...How many time did the repeat the the foundation. Keep introducing characters that were just there not essential may briefly show up again. I did like the religious over tones. Ironically the redeeming factor. Very slow redundant book.

Story is good, Narration is Awful
The narrator's voice is monotone and slow. If you don't care to listen to the story but are looking for something to put you to sleep - this is the one for you.
I usually listen while doing chores around the house or driving and the narration was so difficult to listen to that it almost put me to sleep and I want even able to really listen to the story. By the end I'm not even sure of certain parts of the story and have holes. You really have to pay close attention because the narrator didn't capture the story at all with their voice.
She made it so I don't care to listen to any future story she narrates, and I'm questioning the quality of the author's writing.

This book deals with humans that sin and fall into sin, and their experiences with grace. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot line, and was even surprised by some of the outcomes. Good read.
