Summary
Do you want to learn about the GIANTS of history and their amazing accomplishments, without all the extra unnecessary information? Then keep reading.
Contained in this book are short summaries of the stories of the great visionaries and great minds of humanity that changed the game and changed the world, for better or worse.
Rather than information overload like regular history textbooks (focused on dates, facts, and place names), this book series tells the unique stories of the characters. The adversities and setbacks they faced. The moments of inspiration. Rare characteristics and not-so-well-known facts. See these stories from a different angle in a new, exciting way, with their most inspirational quotes.
Perhaps one of the best things about this book is the range of characters included. You have: religious leaders, visionaries, polar explorers, inventors and scientists, ancient emperors and philosophers, Holocaust survivors (and victims), artists and musicians, military leaders and strategists, flawed geniuses, and more. But you also have mystical figures, con artists, brilliant tricksters, and evil rulers. These characters, too, changed the game.
The list of historical figures includes: (Series 2)
- Thomas Edison (Nikola Tesla)
- Sigmund Freud (Carl Jung)
- Julius Caesar (Marcus Aurelius)
- Jesus Christ (Prophet Muhammad)
- Sir John Franklin (Roald Amundsen)
- Sun Tzu (Miyamoto Musashi)
- Genghis Khan (Napoleon Bonaparte)
- Leif Erikson (Ragnar Lothbrok)
- Mahatma Gandhi (Nelson Mandela)
- Joan of Arc (Anne Frank)
- Charles Ponzi (Frank Abagnale)
- Fyodor Dostoevsky (Victor E. Frankl)
- Isaac Newton (Charles Darwin)
- Albert Einstein (Georges Lemaitre)
- Leonardo Da Vinci (Michelangelo)
- Cleopatra (Marie Curie)
- Socrates (Plato)
- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Ludwig van Beethoven)
- Emmeline Pankhurst (Rosa Parks)
- Gautama Buddha (Lucifer)

Interesting overview of some significant people.
20 lives in one volume makes the coverage superficial, but a fresh approach adds interest and engagement in hearing about their impact and what we can learn from them. Pay attention to the quotations and who said them as a 20 question quiz is at the end of the book. I think this is a good educational tactic for cementing learning from listening.
The narrator adds energy and interest. Each person having their own chapter makes for natural breaks in the listening experience.
My copy had some editing and factual mistakes, which the author has vowed to correct as soon as possible. Grading is based upon trusting that will happen. I disliked the importuning for a review only half-way through. This is wrong because it devalues reviews like mine based upon the entire book and for other reasons I don't have room to explain.
I received a free copy and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Amazing snapshots of these big historical names!
This book is such a great find! It gives such a comprehensive insight to all of these historical figures with no filler! I had listened to the audiobook version and it was perfect for my commute. I found myself quoting interesting facts to my friends every other day! Patrick Marcus has really nailed this type of history writing! Hopefully he will do something similar on sporting greats!! Highly reccomend!

A fascinating take on history’s most influential individuals
ally enjoyed the authors take on some of history’s most influential people, from the world of art, philosophy, science and religion.
As a history teacher and someone who is constantly trying to engage young people on the importance and value of understanding these lives, I loved how this book conveniently summaries numbers lives into one take home book.

Inspirational!
This Audiobook is such a high quality listen. The chapter on Gandhi really stood out for me. The adversities went through and still always chose not to lower himself. 'An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind'. All of the chapters are truly inspirational!

Very happy to listen this great book.
Too often many authors of history, I included, make the mistake we think the reader will share our interest of tedious amounts of research on say a battle or background of an individual.

The author wasn't afraid to delve into the realm of the religious also, including Jesus as one of the individuals in the book. Highly recommended.
