About this listen

In this Wall Street Journal bestseller, a pair of ritual murders could expose Mercy Kilpatrick to something terrifying: her own past...

Raised off the grid by survivalists, Mercy Kilpatrick believed in no greater safeguard than the backwoods of Oregon. Unforgiven by her father for abandoning the fold for the FBI, Mercy still holds to her past convictions. They’re in her blood. They’re her secrets—as guarded as her private survival retreat hidden away in the foothills.

In a cabin near her hideaway, Mercy encounters a young girl whose grandmother is dying from multiple knife wounds. Hundreds of miles away, a body is discovered slashed to death in a similar way. The victims—a city judge and an old woman living in the woods—couldn’t be more different. With the help of police chief Truman Daly, Mercy must find the killer before the body count rises. Mercy knows that the past has an edge on her. So does her family. How can she keep her secrets now...when they’re the only things that can save her?

Another fantastic Mercy story!

Would you listen to A Merciful Secret again? Why?

Yes - All Kendra Elliot books are well worth keeping and revisiting again in the future

Who was your favorite character and why?

That's easy...Truman Daly of course, I bet he is loved by all the romance readers ;)

Any additional comments?

Kendra Elliot has become an auto-buy author, she does a fantastic job with the suspense but still remembers to add enough romance in to satisfy readers of that Genre.

Burning ambitions

Although the story line wasn’t as exciting as some of Kendra’s other stories I’ve read , this was a fluid , well written and very enjoyable read/listen. With a pretty violent climax the story was well rounded off. Happy to recommend this book to anyone as Kendra is a top story teller .

great story, great series.

i thoroughly enjoyed this book. the story is good and the suspense level is high. As alwsys i await the next instalment of Trueman and Mercy's story because they seem to find a lot of serious trouble in such a quiet place.

This 1 will keep you guessing all the way through.

Oh, this one was goooooooooood. We see the full extent of Mercy’s prepping instincts kick in, and I found that side of the storyline fascinating. As the title suggests there are some big secrets in this story. With interconnected histories, the main and side characters all seem to be hiding things. As readers, we are treated to their narratives and insight into why they are keeping secrets. Kendra dropping little hints here and there, some of which will throw you completely off course.

Kendra develops Mercy’s relationship with Truman more and it’s really lovely to see them moving into more confident territory. There is action upon action here and it also has a slight white witchy element to it. I was hooked right from the start.

Teri is becoming a fast favourite. Her narration is spot on and I am growing a huge appreciation for her male voices. The way she flips between character voices and inner thoughts is so fluid. No easy feat I’m sure.

Another captivating story you won’t want to put down.
