Summary

An Amazon Top 100 Best Seller

He might not be the devil, but working under him for six weeks is my idea of hell.

Hayes Flynn is an arrogant jerk known best for his scotch habit and the way he spreads his British “charm” all over Hollywood, never with the same woman twice.

He’s the last person I want to work for - except he has a face I can’t look away from, and the longer we’re together, the harder he is to hate. Because under that smug exterior is a heart he doesn’t want to show - one that was badly broken a decade earlier.

A part of me wants to fix it for him before I leave…but can I do it without breaking my own in the process?

Beautiful story! Captivating!

Tali and Hayes is beautifully written, and captivating. Their story is heartwarming, sizzling, and sweet. Tali is beautiful, caring, and supportive. Hayes is handsome, arrogant, charming, enigmatic, and hardworking. They are opposites attract. I liked their slow burn romance, their flirting, and their banter. They share a sizzling hot chemistry. This is a great office romance. Impossible to put it down. Rose Dioro did an excellent job with the narration. I like her voice. I enjoyed it! Looking forward to listening to The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, Drew's story.

Hayes & Tali!

Enemies to lovers? Count me in! Elizabeth O'Roark had me caught up and invested in Hays and Tali from the first chapter. Hayes is workaholic plastic surgeon. His gruff personality makes it hard to work for him, so he is once again in need of an assistant. Tali needs a job, so takes the position and sees exactly why this is the case. He is a hard boss with many layers, and she do what she can to see past his tough exterior. As their relationship grows, the chemistry becomes impossible to resist. But neither one is ready to admit their feelings. Past experience has them both hesitant. A family situation causes Tali to leave suddenly, and now we see exactly where they stand. Will they give in and express their feelings? Hayes is the kind of character I love. The slow burn these two have lets us remove of Hayes's layers one by one. Tali is spunky and fun. Her vulnerability is evident, and I love she isn't afraid to let it show. And the sarcastic, witty banter just kept making me smile! I loved this book and will be looking for more by O'Roark.

Rose Dioro is a wonderful narrator. I always love her performances and this one is no exception. She gives Hayes and Tali each a voice that matches their personalities. Using her comedic timing, she had me giggling to myself with the banter and then in the next scene brought tears to my eyes with the intense vulnerability these characters had. I truly enjoyed the narration and always look for her in new releases.

Absolutely brilliant slow burn romance!

This was my first Elizabeth O’Roark book and oh my goodness it certainly won’t be my last. I adored everything about Hayes and Tali’s story.
Tali is an aspiring author who is new to L.A and is looking for a job that will allow her the time to work on her book and pay her way, so she takes a temporary position as an assistant to a hot, cocky, arrogant, British playboy plastic surgeon.
Hayes has demons from the past and even though the chemistry between him and Tali is evident from the start and the road to their HEA is a rocky one filled with an endless stream of banter.
Rose Dioro’s performance is simply divine! She portrayed both Tali and Hayes and all their emotions, vulnerabilities and wants perfectly. And the British accent of Hayes is tantalisingly swoony!
This slow burn workplace romance is an absolute winner for me! You will not be disappointed using a credit on this audio.
Love, love, love A Deal with the Devil!

Great read

I really enjoyed this audiobook.

Hayes and Tali’s story is a real rollercoaster.

Tali takes a job being Hayes assistant for a while. Starting this job, Tali knew Hayes was a person who, that at the start, screamed "don't get too close". However, as time went on Tali got to see the softer side to him, his fears and why he acts the way he does.

I will admit I really disliked Hayes at the start however, the more I get to know him, I couldn't help but love him. Tali is sweet and I loved how she broke down Hayes walls. Together these two helped each other more than they realised and I loved reading how much their friendship and relationship grew. They challenged each other and I loved the humour and banter between them.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was sweet and I loved getting to know their secrets.

Great slow burn listen

This was my first listen by Elizabeth O'Roark. If you like slow burn stories, this one is for you! Tali takes a temporary job working for a famous plastic surgeon. Little did she know what she was signing up for with Hayes. Tali & Hayes had lots of great chemistry and banter. Rose Dioro did an amazing job narrating this story!

Absolutely fantastic

I absolutely adored this book!!!! I loved the characters and the story was fantastic. It flowed well but my favorite thing was the snark. They were both hilarious and the chemistry between them was magic. I laughed so hard at some of the things they said to each other but what was ultimately refreshing was that nothing was nasty. It was snarky but taken as intended by both parties and thus, made me smile as I watched these two grow closer and closer. A fun fun book. I loved the narrator. So so good :)

Refreshing and light…

4 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this steamy/enemies romance book by Elizabeth O’Roark. It was a refreshing/light read. Not a whole lotta drama going on in this book. Exactly what I needed.
The cute banter between Tali and Hayes had me turning the pages so I could read more. Their chemistry had me screaming out…”just do the nasty already”

But A Devil with the Devil is a slow burn so you don’t get to read the hot sexy until 70%, but lets just say it was worth the wait…

The whole boss/employee thing going on was cute, funny and oh so sweet. You won’t be disappointed in this book.

Audiobook review: 5 stars goes to Rose Dioro for doing a fabulous job! Her British male voice was incredible. She truly knows how to bring the characters alive! I always enjoy listening to her.

A perfect enemies to lovers, slow burn romance!

I loved Tali and Hayes so much. They had fantastic slow burn, enemies to lovers chemistry. From the moment I began listening to this story, I was completely consumed. The tension, emotion and angst was done so well. Hayes comes across as a complete jerk at first but as he reveals his vulnerabilities my heart grew so big for the guy and you cannot help but route for him. The way Tali brings out his softer side I just loved. Tali is on her own journey. Of self discovery and healing. She is recently single again after a 10 year relationship ends. She is floundering a bit and just trying to figure out where she fits. So when she is offered the opportunity to work for Hayes she doesn’t hesitate and believes the change of scenery is just want she needed, even though at first she got a little more then she bargained for. As the two work together they build a strong unbreakable friendship with some sexy, flirty back and forth banter that turns into something really special and unique. This audiobook is narrated by Rose Dioro. This is one of my favourites of her performances. There is so much to love. She is a passionate, emotional story teller and she kept me connected from beginning to end.

Best Book I've Read(Listened to) in a LONG Time!

I haven't really gotten into too many books lately, but Tali and Hayes's story was one that I didn't want to put down. I was so invested in these characters and loved the witty banter between them as so much more was developing. This was such an amazing story. I need more!

I loved this narrator. I usually enjoy the stories more when men are also narrating, but I didn't even notice it with this book. She did a great job and I loved this story so much!

Unexpectedly Captivating

Because I know myself and how predictable I can be, I went into this listen with low expectations. I just cannot get enough of enemies to lovers, but at some point, the tropes begin to feel repetitive and grumpy boss with a sunshine assistant is simply a redundant crowd pleaser. It's the PF Changs of romance novel tropes. However, I was so pleasantly surprised by this book!

Narration- You know you are so far down the rabbit hole of romance novel binging when having a single narrator is shocking. I have grown so accustomed to dual perspective narration, I wasn't sure how this would go. Rose Dioro did a fantastic job! She deserves a big WELL DONE CHAP in your best British accent. Speaking of British accents, let's all give Rose Dioro a Blanche Devereaux hot and bothered round of applause at how well Hayes was narrated.

The Story- I thought the author did a wonderful job of bringing depth into a boss/employee relationship. Both the FMC and MMC had enough going on in their lives outside of the working dynamic, I think it helped build the foundation for a story that felt like it had substance. Tali was relatable- battling grief, family addiction (Trigger Warning) and trying to land on her feet after a year of set backs, made the fact she had a hot, rich doctor boss swoop in (like the alpha he is) tolerable. Hayes also had family/personal issues that, when revealed, did create an even balance of feeling empathy for him instead of an eye roll.

Rating: 4.5 Stars- This story was memorable with good narration that flowed nicely together with the perfect amount of sweet moments and sassy banter.

So much fun!

A Deal with the Devil took me completely by surprise. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite romance tropes, so I expected to like it. What I didn't expect was to be so thoroughly caught up in Hayes and Tali so quickly. The chemistry between these two was out of this world from the beginning, and the banter was everywhere from amusing to laugh out loud funny. I had planned to listen to part of the book while doing some housework then set it aside until the next day's chores needed to be done. Nope, that didn't work for me. I ended up listening straight through for the better part of the day and into the evening. I absolutely loved this couple and their story. Maybe it was just that I was in the mood for this book, maybe a case of exactly the right book at exactly the right time, but everything about their journey - yes, even the angst - was what I wanted from the story. The ending was perfect and at the same time, I finished the book and wanted more of Hayes and Tali, so I'll definitely be revisiting this one again. Somehow, this is my first Elizabeth O'Roark book, which is something that will be remedied very soon. It's also my first time listening to narrator, Rose Dioro, who I feel took this book to the next level. I think I would've loved this story in either format, but Dioro breathes life into these characters so well. From the barbs thrown back and forth to the attraction that's so obvious to the resistance to the aha moments when they realize how much they care about each other - this narrator captures all that feeling and it comes through loud and clear. So, if you like enemies to lovers romance and/or workplace romance, this is a must read, or listen as the case may be.

Enemies to Lovers Romance!

A Deal with the Devil (A Steamy Enemies-to-Lovers Romance) with a sassy heroine and a british hot playboy plastic surgeon. I enjoyed the witty banter between Hayes and Tali. Angsty and passionate listen.

Rose Dioro absolutely nailed her narration. Rose's performance transported their story into reality. Her inflection is sweetly appealing and smooth to listen to.

A Hot/Slow Burn Enemies to Lovers Office Romance

I typically prefer books narrated in a dual perspective, but Rose Diorio was fantastic in her narration of Hayes and Tali's story. She gave each characters their own individuality and personalities. I love when a narrator is able to make us listeners feel every single emotion. A Deal with the Devil was an excellent read/listen. I truly enjoyed it from beginning to end. I was honestly expecting this really A****** personality with Hayes, but although he had some of the A qualities/tendencies, there was so much more to who the man truly was inside. He was so much more than his physical appearance, and womanizing reputation that followed-him. Hayes was a broken man who had been betrayed by the people who should have cared about him the most. His past experiences have created a wall around his heart and made him lose focus on the things that were once important to him. Tali was a fresh of breath air in Hades life. She was the girl who was used to sacrificing it all in order to take care of others, especially her mother and two sisters. Tali as a provider and giver by nature and it was these qualities that made her see who Hades was inside. I loved the way Tali took care of Hades. Their relationship wasn't one sided. They both gave to each other and saw the best parts of one another.

One of the things I enjoyed most about this book is that we got to experience Hades and Tali's everyday life. We got to see how they interacted in and out of the work places and how their relationship/friendship grew. Both characters were absolutely fantastic with so much growth throughout the story.

A Truly Entertaining Read!

☆☆☆☆
A Deal With the Devil was a truly entertaining read. I listened to the audiobook and I LOVED Rose Dioro's narration, especially when voicing Hayes Flynn.
Hayes is a gorgeous plastic surgeon who works too much and spends every night with a different woman in his bed. Natalia “Tali" works as a bartender while also writing a fantasy romance novel. Her best friend, Jonathan, comes to her with a job proposition. If she agrees, she’ll be Hayes' assistant for six weeks, earning $4K a week! She always looked at him as the devil incarnate but couldn’t deny her desperate need for the money. These two are messed up when it comes to love. Hayes' girlfriend cheated on him with his DAD and then married him ten years ago. Now, he finds it hard to trust love. Tali dated the same guy, who became an actor, for ten years. Then, while she’s burying her father, he cheats on her. I would have killed him but Tali breaks off their relationship. So, she doesn’t trust men. She always judged Hayes for his behavior, not realizing his heart had been destroyed which was something she knew all about. Despite her initial dislike, she tries her best to help him improve his life and take better care of himself. I loved how devoted she was to that goal.
I usually love a lot of angst which was lacking in this story but the sexual tension between them almost replaced it. I would have loved more detailed intimate scenes. The ending really touched my heart. Overall, it was time well spent and I definitely recommend it to all readers. You may enjoy the audiobook more because I certainly did. This is my honest opinion, freely given.
