Summary
When doing the right thing goes horribly wrong...
Caroline Blakely is certain of two things: She was happy with her life as a first grade school teacher, and she can never, ever return to it.
After discovering a shocking truth about her father, the wealthy businessman at the helm of Blakely Oil, she’s on the run - a difficult feat given her father’s endless resources and connections.
With the help of friends, Carly is able to secure a new identity, but her attempts to keep a low profile are blown to bits when she gets stuck in Drum, Tennessee. When she investigates a cry in the parking lot outside her motel room, she finds herself the lone witness to a murder.
Stranded in the small Appalachian Mountain town, she soon realizes that Drum is as riddled with secrets as her own past. A huge chunk of the intrigue centers around the Drummond family, ancestors of the town’s founders, and their oldest son, Wyatt - an ex-con.
She knows she’d do best to stay away from the Drummonds, especially Wyatt, and from the mystery she’s stumbled upon, but Carly’s sense of right and wrong demands that she help, even if it means risking her own secrets...and her life.

No spoilers
I want to start off by saying I love D.G.S her writing and characters are so well put together. This book wasn't for me it felt like Carly was whiney every other page she was crying, or was about to cry. Her eyes were blurry with tears, her eye burned with trears, her eyes floated with tears. You get the point. What happened I thought she found a bit of a back bone in Henrietta. And why would Jed and Wyatt put her in a car that would break down. That didn't make much sense to me. But anyhow overall the book was ok I will give the next a try. Narration was done fabulous McManus was spot on. Lover her narration.

Good examples of deception, trust, and the need for companionship
The story held my and interest and was full of twists and turns EACH A DECISION BASED ON THE TIMING AND NEED. The characters displayed a human need to belong somewhere and to be needed. Well written!!!

I liked this book but it was way to similar to rose, joe and his father. I feel it's the same story, different characters. Stick to Rose. I need more Rose!

To Die For
I LOVE this book. That doesn’t really cover how I feel about this book, but putting it into words is kind of impossible. I cannot wait for the next ones. Denise Grover Swank has an amazing ability to create complex and mysterious characters and Shannon McManus has the gift of bringing them to life. Will probably listen to it a few more times in the next month.

feels like Rose Gardner
I listened to this waiting on the next Rose Gardner book and it sure feels familiar. I suspect I know how this is going to play out because of the other series... maybe I'm wrong. I hope so. I'll read another to see.
