Entertaining

I visited Scotland many times, and I loved it each time. I’m glad that I found this book, to remind of the good time I had, and to understand the local dialect next time when I go there.

This book is "Mad Wae It"

As a native Scot who moved away some 11 years ago I got this book as I suspected it would be  very comedic and boy was I not wrong. What a hoot. Its full of the most common words and phrases used every day in Scotland. It reminded me of so many great times and great laughs with old friends and family. So if your a native looking for fun to pass a bit of time then get this book, More importantly if your a tourist planning a visit to God's Country (Scotland) any time soon then this is an absolute must for you to purchase, It will have you up to speed in no time and you will be able to fit right in with the locals and join in the tremendous banter you will find in this fantastic country. Scotland has much to offer but you won't find a funnier place on earth to be and much of that is down to the language we use which you will find littered throughout this great book. Well narrated by a native too for authentic feel.

Neeps and Tatties Forever More!

Well my father is Scottish and even to this day, i can become flummoxed by some the words and phrases he uses. This highly engaging, but very concise audiobook has certainly shed some light on the matter. The audiobook made me smile and the narration was just right.

The trainspotting translation guide

Excellent! Straight into it with no rambling, short and sweet but was a cheery jaunt through the most common Scottish vernacular, much fun and learnt a few words I'd not heard before.

Loved it!

I loved the way this book is narrated, clear and no-nonsense (which was funny given some of the words!). It says the words and then short understandable details of what the words mean and in context. I can’t wait to give this to my friends and family and I might order a few for their Christmas stockings! I really enjoyed it all and some of the words were fantastic and hilarious (apologies to any Scottish friends!)

Excellent book!

We are planning to travel upto Scotland next summer and wanted to learn the lingo!
This book has some words that I can understand from the way they are said and with some words I was way off the mark!

Some words made me smile, for example, I did not know Scottish people called going shopping for food..as going to supermarket to get messages!!

Lovely book with great narration. This book can help you carry a conversation with a Scottish person...although I might have to listen to it few more times!

This is a great book.

When we were learning a new language, we tend to form sentences in our language in our head, and then we translate them word by word to our target language. With the help of this audiobook, you will not only improve your Scottish syntax but by Words and Phrases, you will also improve your vocabulary!

Straight to the Point

I loved that this book was straight to the point. I was mildly disappointed that it wasn't longer. I would listen to this book again due to the narrator's enthusiasm and pronunciation. Some of the phrases and words are very familiar to me, so it was a pleasure to listen to.

It was a Blast!

It was alot of fun and enjoyable learning some of the many colourful words and phrases that are used every day in Scotland. I love the narrators accent I just wished he spoke a little slower. But I just turned the speed right down.
So now when I visit Scotland I will understand some of what is being said.
