Walter is a good storyteller. His stories will make you laugh and cry. He knows the pain of failure and the joy of being rescued by caring friends. In his stories you will find inspiration, laughter, hope and encouragement. You can easily relate to Walter's stories because most of them come out of his struggles with the common issues of life. One of his most popular books is titled WHEN YOU LOSE SOMEONE YOU LOVE. There he tells the story of his son David's death at age 3, a victim of leukemia. Anyone who has lost a child will find help and hope in this book. Walter had been married to Dean for 68 and a half years when she died December 16, 2020. Six months later, Walter published his book about her suffering and death titled STRUGGLING WITH GRIEF, FINDING PEACE -- ONE MAN'S JOURNEY THROUGH THE VALLEY OF SORROW. It quickly became his most popular book as others struggling with grief are finding it helpful. In 2021 Walter revised and enlarged this book and Xulon Press published it with the same title. In 2020 Walter released a challenging book titled CHANGING YOUR WORLD: GROWING A PLAN ONE STORY AT A TIME. In it he encourages followers of Christ to overcome racism and hatred with kindness and love. One Sunday School Class in Mulder Methodist Church near Wetumpka, Alabama found it helpful, discussing the content each Sunday "one story at a time" for a year. Until recently, Walter's most popular book has been LIFE'S GREATEST ADVENTURE - SERVING JESUS CHRIST. He shares in it many creative ways to life daily life as an authentic servant of Jesus. Since he retired at age 70, Walter has published 15 books. Finding that many older people die soon after they retire, Walter issued a challenge to retirees in his book, GOD IS NOT DONE WITH YOU, published in 2016 when Walter was 84. A United Methodist minister, Walter retired at the mandatory age of 70, had both knees replaced, and went back to work on the staff of Saint James United Methodist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. After 16 years St. James honored him by naming him Pastor Emeritus. He still teaches Sunday School and preaches occasionally at Saint James Church. In addition he is now co-pastor of New Walk of Life Church, a black congregation in an impoverished area of west Montgomery. Walter and Dean met in the first grade. After a 14-year engagement they married when they were 20. They have five children: David (deceased), Matthew, Mark, Timothy, and Steve. Their sons and their wives blessed them with 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Walter continues to reside at "The Cabin," near Wetumpka, Alabama. From "The Glory Room" in his home, Walter produces a weekly video for his home church, Wetumpka First Methodist, where his son Matt now serves as pastor. Walter is a graduate of Auburn University (B.S.degree) and Emory University's Candler School of Theology (M.Div.degree). Before transferring to Emory he spent the first year and a half of his theological studies at Vanderbilt University Divinity School. Walter's email address is walteralbritton7@gmail.com. Walter's wife Dean is the author of two books: The Yellow Butterfly (2010, available from Amazon) and Misplaced Heart (1990, available from Walter). Walter's next book is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2023 with the tentative title, GLORY!
