Theresa Hannig studied political science and worked as a software developer and lighting designer before turning to writing full-time. In her stories and the column "Über Morgen" in wochentaz, she deals with the future of our society in terms of surveillance, AI and climate change. Hannig reads and discusses her novels at schools as part of German and ethics lessons in grades 9-13. Teachers can download free teaching materials for her novels from her website. She also speaks on topics such as society & AI, democracy & surveillance, the future of work and women in the digital world. In 2023, she was awarded the Tassilo-Kulturpreis by the Süddeutsche Zeitung for her commitment to making women writers visible in public.
