If I had to describe myself in three words, I would say I’m a “fugitive from reality.” I’ve always been drawn to the dark, the fantastic, and the just plain weird. In keeping with my predilections, my stories are mixed-genre—science fiction, fantasy, romance, horror, thriller—rolled, in twos, threes, or more, into one book. As for why I write mixed-genre, a quote from Maya Angelou neatly sums it up: “If there is a book you want to read, but it has not been written, then you must write it.” The books I write are the books I want to read, books that have escaped the traditional straightjacket of genre. As a writer, that fluidity is immensely freeing, and amazing things happen when one colors outside the lines. Mixed-genre books are tales from the roads less traveled. Sometimes dark. Often strange. And always unforgettable.
