Unconventional, acerbic. loyal. Love to hear the truth, so rare. Everything has an agenda, except the truth! The only camouflage/spin I approve of, is make-up. The world and I definitely look better with a bit of slap. The incredibly multi-talented author, me, is also an accomplished actress and comedienne. Appeared on the big screen in the BBC's “Bring me the head of Mavis Davis” opposite such stars as Rik Mayall and Jane Horrocks. I appeared on the Bill and also had a memorable role in the 1989 film version of “Phantom of the Opera" with Robert Englund (Freddie Kruger from the “Nightmare on Elm Street” horror film series). For the last 30 years I have suffered with Multiple Sclerosis. An aggressive, invasive, progressive disease of the central nervous system, which effects balance and causes sensory problems. Eventually, it was no longer possible for me to drive or to work. What was possible however, due to the wonders of computer technology, I found writing and performing video logs using satire and comedy; parodies of well known figures such as The Queen, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Nancy Pelosi (Democratic Speaker of the American House of Representatives). Using laughter as therapy and sharing it with the world for all to enjoy. (200,000 views to date.) Born Jacalynne Mendoza in London, England, I left London University with a degree in English and Drama, got very involved with charities, particularly the Young Variety Club, where I helped raise a great deal of money for underprivileged and handicapped children. It was there that I met my husband, Peter Flax. In 1995, we moved to the U.S. with our daughter and two boxer dogs. Together with Peter, we began our own supper theatre company where I played ‘Shirley Valentine’, the mum from Liverpool; for six years in theatres and clubs in Southern California, including two years in a casino. The show won three theatrical awards for Best Actress, Best Play and Best Director. After six years, I added ‘Last of the Red Hot Lovers’ and played all of the three women characters. In 2004 I began my own one woman stand-up comedy show ‘8 Crazy Women Living in my Head'. The show became the nexus of the 'vlogs' (video logs) and eventually, this book. _____________________ Visit me at: http://www.youtube.com/jactress - Dedicated to the memory of Princess Diana http://www.youtube.com/Crazeechix - Comedy with Jacalynne Flax and Diana Fox http://www.ucanexercisewithms.com http://www.youtube.com/Multiplesclerosis101
