Daniel Robinson is a graduate of the writing program at the University of Denver and the author of two books of fiction--a novel, After the Fire (which will also be released in paperback in September 2015 by Skyhorse Press), and a noir-novella, The Shadow of Violence. His third novel, Death of a Century, will be published by Arcade Books in June 2015. Death of a Century concerns the return of a World War I vet to France--Lost Generation Paris--as he searches for the murderer of his best friend as well as a man who traitorously sold out his country in September 1915 during the Second Battle of the Champagne. Robinson's first career was fighting wildfires as a member of Hot Shot crews. He fought fire for fourteen years as a member of the Entiat Hot Shots (The Bushmen) in Washington, a Squad Foreman on the Chena Hot Shots in Alaska, and as Crew Supervisor of the Pike Hot Shots in Colorado. He fought over 100 fires ranging in size from as small as your bedroom to around a million acres and in eleven Western states and two Canadian provinces. He was on six tragedy fires and had to run or hide from at least that many, seeking shelter inside safety zones and rock slides and once running into a lake to join two moose escaping from a fire. He was awarded two Letters of Commendation for actions during hazardous situations and was awarded a Certificate of Merit for telling two crews to run like hell. He holds a BS in Forest Management and a MA in English from Colorado State University as well as his PhD in Fiction Writing, with an academic emphasis in American literature, from the University of Denver. At DU he studied with Rikki Ducornet and Bill Wiser, two wonderful teachers who showed him the forest and let him forge his own path into the world of fiction writing. He will be forever grateful to these two for having helped him become a writer. He presently lives in Fort Collins, Colorado, with Sandra Lee and Cait, his wife and daughter, as well as his very mixed-breed dog (eddie-B) and the perfect cat (Otto the Gato).
