Andrew Hager has been fascinated by American history since his childhood in rural southwestern Pennsylvania. Upon graduating from Towson University with an undergraduate degree in political science and a graduate teaching degree, he joined Baltimore County Public Schools as a middle school social studies teacher. After nearly a decade in education, Hager retired and took a position as the Historian-in-Residence at the Presidential Pet Museum in 2017. In this role, he has appeared on CBS Sunday Morning, Good Morning America, the BBC, and a variety of other news outlets around the world. He is legally blind and travels with a black Labrador guide dog named Sammy. He lives with his wife, Kristy, and their two children, Mia and Ian, in the suburbs north of Baltimore. They also have two cats (Sophia and Olivia) and a lap-dog (Emmy). ALL-AMERICAN DOGS is his first nonfiction book.
